I ordered a new original Shell pickguard for my StingRay 4, but when putting it on my bass it did not fit that well...
It was a little bit to small on both sides of the neck, so it scratched my stingray neck, also it took some effort to get it around the pick up... I don't like this, because it feels like damaging it... :(
Now when I press down the pick up it got stuck against the PG and I have to pull it out instead of it popping out by itself. The screwholes are on the on the right places (well, not entirely, but the screws fit in the same holes)

Is this common? Recommendations?
It was curved a little when I bought it, but could this be the problem?

thanks!

I have found that many of the aftermarket pickguards seem to use inferior templates and require modification. I have had to use the dremel on several friends' guards that they ordered from one of the specialty companies.

Just order from EB, the pearl white guard I ordered from them came and fit perfectly. They even sent different colored screws because my originals were black. Class act all the way.

Order From EB

I ran into the same problem when I ordered an aftermarket pickguard. It was rough-cut and did not fit - in other words - it sucked. I sent it back and ordered a SR pickguard from EB customer service. It fit perfectly and the quality was typical EB - top notch.:)

Thanks for the replies...
I'm pretty sure that it's not an aftermarket pickguard. I double checked it with the store today, they ordered it at the official Benelux dealer.

How much it's the difference between the Sterling PG and the Stingray PG? If that difference is not even 0.01 inch, it could be a Sterling PG. I compared it to my black en white PG and there's a really, really small difference in dimensions. It's also the same shape. I'm able to put it on my Stingray, but it takes some effort to get it around the neck and pick up...

I will take it back to the store tomorrow. Is it possible to order'a Pickguard at Ernie Ball from overseas?

Thanks again.
