We are very happy to introduce our newest line of guitars & basses that target the $199-$299 price points.

The SUB Series will be available in May/June and features your favorite Music Man designs at more affordable pricing. After almost 4 years of producing Sterling by Music Man, we learned a lot and have improved our instruments in the mid range price point over the years. Now we want to make great affordable instruments available to all players, beginner or advanced - the SUB Series will get you there for less!

Guitars
Silo3 - this is based on the Silhouette Special /Silo30. Available in Red, Black and White. Standard tremolo bridges, 22 fret necks, asymmetrical neck shape, maple (BK) or rosewood fingerboards (RD & WH). 2 single coils and 1 humbucker, single volume & tone controls.
Street prices (USA) start at $199.

AX3 - Based on the Axis Super Sport/AX30 - features a quilt image bound top, 2 hum buckers wired to a 5 way switch. Volume & Tone controls. Maple necks & fingerboards. Standard tremolo bridges. Street prices (USA) start at $249.

Basses
Ray 4 - a Vintage style Stingray w/ 2 band active preamp, humbucking bass pickup. Maple necks w/ maple (BK) or rosewood (WH & WS) fingerboards. Killer basses for the money, the Walnut satin finish is very nice.

Ray 5 - 5 string bass based on the Ray35/SR5. 2 band active preamp, hum bucking bass pickup. Maple neck & fingerboard.

These are really nice instruments at starter/beginner pricing with quality that exceeds the price point. I hope you all get a chance to check these out when they ship in May/June.

How do you do this?

No, really? I was looking at the silos and thought "I really like the white, but oh, that red is nice and man, that black is great with the black pickguard. Then I realized that for half the price of a used silo, I could literally buy all 3.

Same here dav - hard to decide. Good thing is we have some time before they come out.

Question Pat - is the neck on the S3 the same shape as the silo30? The neck on my silo30 doesn't feel asymmetrical.

thanks

I got another question too, about the trem arm:
is a screwed arm trem or a pop in arm trem? (like the ax30 and the silo30?) because on the brochure, the trem doesn't seem to be the same as the prevoius models.

Are they basswood or Alder? Strats always work so well in Alder, and that Silo 3 looks like a great Strat alternative so one doesn't have to use another brand. LOL

Those prices are stupid (in the good sense of the word lol.) If those things play like all the other Sterlings, all those gig packs by Ibanez and Epiphone just became GROSSLY overpriced.

I had the same question in another thread - here was Pat's answer - "the Hardwood solid body is made of Jabon. It's a local Indonesian hardwood used by many top brands. It's light in weight and is very similar to Basswood in tone and weight. "

Congratulations! I bought my 9 year old son a Silo 3 in white and have only goten to plat it for a few minutes before I packed it away for his gift. I cannot wait until he sees this thing because he is going to be majorly stoked but at the same time, I am also excited because then I can play the guitar too whenever I want too.

I got the Silo3 in November. Thing is an absolute tone monster. Also ridiculously playable and lightweight. However, I need to get an issue resolved where the 4th and 5th strings are at almost a 0 degree angle at the nut, so it's not sustaining as well as it could. The vendor was Guitar Center, so I'm hoping they'll look at it if I take it in.
