I’m new to the forum and the world of Ernie Ball and Music Man. I wanted to say hello and share how I happened into my Axis.
Here’s the story…
I went into my local pawn shop looking for a cheap iPhone case to make a tripod mount and noticed an EEBMM hanging on the wall safely behind the cash register. I was not familiar with EBMM except for a buddy of mine plays one in band in Toronto and I knew EVH and Steve Morse had some affiliations at some point.
I went back in a few days later just to see it again. I checked it out, found out it was an Axis in quilted Red finish and a made in the USA guitar. The price was great and it looked brand new. I strummed a few chords unplugged and it was badly out of tune. They didn’t have the correct 3mm allen key so I was unable to tune it. Even in that state I was really impressed by the feel of the neck and the way it resonated. Now I had to figure out how to get it as I have no cash available for music gear at this time.
Long story short, I was able to trade for it. I unloaded some entry level and low end gear I had been unable to sell on Kijiji and walk away with this beauty with no cash out of my pocket. I got them to throw in a set of strings as well. I restrung it as soon as I got home.
I’ve done a lot of research since first seeing it and then owning it and this forum has been extremely helpful to read. I found out it was a 2006 model through the forum as well.
I’ve never owned or maybe even ever play a guitar this nice and am amazed at what comes out of it when I play it. The neck is unbelievable and it almost seems to play itself.
The funny thing is I actually started playing guitar after hearing a Van Halen record many, many years ago and it is amazing to luck into this instrument that is based on EVH’s.
Pictures to follow.
Thanks,
Jason
