Hey All, I ordered a sil special having never played an ernie ball. I received the guitar yesterday. Unfortunately I don't have a camera so I can't post pics. My question is the high E string pulls off the frets very easily and it's making the guitar frusterating to play. Is this normal for these guitars? Is there a simple fix for this problem?

Thanks.

my saddle goes out of wack once in a while....are you sure it is strait, it may appear to be....if you don't find a different solution you could always try raising it for kicks.

There's probably nothing physically wrong with the guitar, you might just need to get used to this new guitar. I had that problem with one of mine, it might have been a Silo Spec after playing my Petrucci exclusively for a few months, but it was just playing a different neck than I was used to and I had to develop the "touch".

Even my EVH which was known for that problem and had it's neck widened when they redesigned it as the Axis wasn't an issue once I got used to it.

I'll bet it will be a non-issue in a few days...

oh yeah, gotta see some pics bud.

thanks for the replies. The string is definately closer to the edge of the fretboard than my other two guitars. I'm going to restring it and play with the saddles and see what happens.

Is it a trem or a hardtail?

If they are the vintage trem saddles with the V indent that the string sits in, check the position of the V relative to the other saddles.

When I first got my gremlin (NOS ordered from a dealer in Georgia) I noticed that the V was stamped off center causing the string to veer slightly more toward the edge of the fretboard.

Since it was NOS and under warranty I spoke with Dan at Customer Service and he sent a replacement saddle where the V was correctly centered I replaced it and everything was fine.

Has your dealer or their tech had a chance to look at it?

Good Luck
