Hi all. I happened to end up on the Music Man forum yesterday and read a post from Sterling Ball where he mentioned the day before was the 5yr. passing of his Father. I work in the building that used to house the string and accessories factory in San Luis Obispo. I remember the day very vividly because I had been bugging Jim to introduce me to Ernie and it hadn't happened yet. Jim stopped by our shop to deliver some mail that had been delivered to the guitar factory by mistake and I jokingly mentioned he hadn't followed through on his promise yet. Then he informed me Ernie had passed away that morning. Hard to believe it has been 5+yrs. As i'm sure all of you have a passion for guitars so is mine. To work side by side a building which makes them is way cool. I bought my first guitar (Fender Jazzmaster) from Ernies guitar store in Tarzana, Ca. in 1961. I really wanted the Gibson tobacco sunburst ES335, but at 12 yrs old could not pull the trigger for the $575 that guitar cost. The Jazzmaster was $450. Now i'm hoping to meet Sterling sometime when he is at the guitar factory to complete the circle.
