I'm very grateful for the opportunity to make this trade with a great person, and to have an opportunity to see and play this work of art in person.

All I gots to say is dayum BP... you were kickin' a$$ and takin' names in '96 too. :D

I Love those, I Have a Few Fretted ones.

I will miss that 20th, but am happy to say that I'm now the proud owner of Matt's 25th Anniversary 5HSS BFR (#7). I know, no pics=no bass, but no camera=no pics. Once I get the camera back, I'll be sure to take some. Thanks, Matt!

ps @ mmbassplayer: some "urban legend makers" whispered to me that some 20th were made without pickguards to show off the beautiful tops. i wonder if that is true? :)

Can't verify that, but people have removed them with an iron and towel.

But... how does she sound? Matt, can you describe it a bit or even record an example?

I'll try to do some recordings with my camera this weekend (amp situation permitting).

One thing that I haven't mentioned is this is the lightest bass I have ever owned, that includes a couple with no batteries...

The best way I could describe it would be responsive and vocal.... It sings so nice, and whoever set it up before did an AMAZING job. The action is absolute butter with no noise but yet ample fretlessness when coaxed. I.e. No noise and percussive when played over the PUP with defined left hand note control, and smooth mwahtastic gooey sing songy goodness when played by the board and more fluid left hand technique.

That reads like it would describe a very attractive sound... :)

That would be me. Matt, I'm glad you're happy with the bass. Here's when it was new to me, and it got some nice comments back then as well. I don't post much, but I've been here a few years.
