It is a V but not so pronounced as the original... less shoulder. The LIII feels like they split the difference between an axis neck and the Luke I, to me. The LIII is just perfect to my hands. The Luke is super comfortable, too, just not as much as the LIII. The thing is, I have 7 EBMMs on my wall and I have not grabbed for anything but the LIII or Luke since I got them... they are both just fantastic.

My Luke III is my first experience with the "soft-v" shape neck, and it definitely is a different beast than the usually C. I like it though.

Glad to hear that the floyd is working well now. Lubrication is something that many people forget to do on trems, and they really do need it to function properly. StewMac makes "guitar grease", which seems to be wax with graphite in it. 'Tri-flow" is also useful. Making sure the trem bar is oiled, and even the bridge hinges on floyds, really helps.

Also nut lubrication helps as well.

I should mention that the "guitar grease" that STewmac sells is great for lubricating the truss rod adjustment wheel.

This is a discussion I've heard a lot regarding floyds, and even sometimes other two point systems. I don't believe the official literature for any of them mention having to remove complete tension from the bridge before making a height adjustment.

Premier guitar has an article on it, and nowhere does it mention detuning the strings.

How to Set Up a Floyd Rose-Style Trem

One thing to remember that many forget: LUBRICATION. The contact points should have some type of oil, whether it's graphite grease, light oil, etc. This really helps everything go smoother, even action adjustments.

Agreed. Just go slow with the post adjustments. I used to always detune before touching the posts, and then one day my preferred guitar tech and luthier (who is excellent and widely known) dispelled that myth for me. Again, just remember to do everything slow and purposefully. Also +1 on lubing the contact point on the bridge plate. I do this once a year when cleaning/polishing, or anytime I have all strings off at once.

Sounds like there's a LIII in my future to go along with my Luke 1 I recently scored.

I know it's a bit of an old post, but can I ask you how much did you pay for your luke 1? And you said that the paint around the bridge was black in one of your previous comments, Wasn't it the Luke first released only in electric blue and burgundy red?

Tonetrade- we don't allow F/S posts in the general threads, there's a F/S thread for that but you have to be a regular member before posting. (I deleted the other posts.)

In terms of pricing, the usual sites like Reverb, eBay, TGP, etc. are good go-to places for selling and price research.
