Interesting Jim. I do agree with you, the SUB1 is a great guitar, especially for the price. I happily traded my Ibanez S470 for a SUB1 and have ZERO regrets. However, I personally think the Silo is a much superior instrument in terms of tone and playability. But hey, you like what you like. Let's just say if the headstock reads MUSIC MAN, you can feel confident that you have a good quality instrument!

Welcome, I'm still sort of new here, I can tell you its a fun place to communicate. Lots of friendly players who share a common interest beyond just playing guitar. That being Music Man.
I bought my first Music Man a couple months ago. I'm completely impressed, actually taken a back to a point where I just sold off my Fender Start to buy another. I like you have had a hankering for a Silhouette. So, my new White Silo with a Rosewood fretboard and a Trem should be here on Saturday morning. Can't wait..
I feel your pain. Fortunately I won't have to deal with it for as long as you. Be patient and smart about it. You will get what you want.

Amazing instrument. I LOVE my Silo Special, and would say nothing but good things about it. Perfect Instrument.

Blue and Abalone is way too cool. I've always wondered how cool a blue or teal Sub would be with an Abalone guard. Which reminds me...

Yo, François! Peut tu penser à vendre ton Sub, par hasard? :)
(would fbecir ever think of selling his sub?)

There are also some big stores in Germany with MM guitars. Maybe you´ll go to Cologne. You can find there the Music Store or Beyers Musik (Guitar Center Cologne). Both shops have MM guitars so you can do the check if the Silo Spec is your guitar. Mine it is :D:D, and I also was a strat guy before but no thinking to go back to 7.... MM is much more worth the price. I found out that it´s a good way also to look on Ebay for MM guitars. There you´ll get a Silo for 1000 €. The perfect quality makes it easy buying MM on this way. Look at the seller. Or you´ll buy one here from the forum. There are always some knuckleheads puttin´away their MM´s for another one. You´ll find it in the sticky threads.

Thanks everyone :)

I also just realised I'm a big fan of the Morse YTD guitar. Is there a huge difference, besides in body/electronics with a Silhouette special? This could be another one to add to the list...

Mhmm silly question but will they play nice with 10s/11s string gauges? I use D'addario (sorry :D). If it needs a new nut it's a rather quick job even for me so it's not a deal breaker but every MM I've played seemed to have tiny strings.

10 and 11 are fine with EBMM nut maybe slight adjustment for 11

now to answer your question about Y2D it's a complete different beast from the Silo Special or regular Silhouette. This is designed to SM taste and might not be to everyone liking. I tested one few years ago didn't like it, I tested another one recently and was more comfortable with it.

In france you can contact Universal music in paris they have huge stock of EBMM and you can contact HTD they will tell you where is the nearest dealer with model you wanna try

Bon courage!

Thanks :) It seems they don't have a website, I'll do some more search when I'm not at work (...).
