i posted this thread a couple of days ago but i guess it didnt make it to the thread board. but here it is again

im fairly new to the whole music man thing but i seriously love the instruments these guys make. i have a newbish question though

on some of the silo's ive seen, some have the battery port on the back of the guitar and some dont. does this mean that some come with avtice pickups and others with passive? (im also pretty inexperienced with the whole electric guitar science in general)

The battery could be for Active pickups if they are EMG's like on the Luke, but on anything else it is the "Silent Circuit" Which makes single coils quieter (less buzz).

On the Silo, the battery is for the Silent Circuit. Single coils pickup can be noisy when you play with high gain (or an overdrive / distortion pedal). The Silent Circuit removes the noise and it works great !
If you forget to put a battery, the Silent Circuits does not work but your pickups are still operational.

Also with the current Silo models (24-fret, HSH pickups) there is no Silent Circuit and therefore no battery port unless it has the piezo pickup option - then it has the battery port but it is for the piezo.

The Silhouette Special (22-fret, either SSH or SSS pickups) has the Silent Circuit and therefore always has a battery port; if it has the piezo pickup option the battery powers both the Silent Circuit and the piezo.

wow thats really cool! I've been eyeing this sick looking silo, its a graphite pearl with black pearloid 24 HSH. ive got a nice strat but i went to my local guitar center and played a really nice silo and immediately said "i've gotta have this." hope i can get one with the piezo option

although that is an amazing looking silo, im looking for one with a rw fretboard. also im gonna go for one with the stock dimarzios. not much of an emg guy. also, this is a more picky thing, the pickguard i would prefer a bit more....how should i say, has more breaks in it. like more crumbly pearloids if u catch my drift which u probably dont cuz im making this really vague lol

I get ya - yu'd like a pg with smaller swirls/swishes/curls/changes/pearls/etc.
In essence, smaller patterns.
Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.
