I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself and post some pics of an EVH I picked up earlier this month at a pawnshop. It's been played but I completely disassembled it, cleaned everything, oiled up the neck and had it set up by Jason at Too Many Guitars here in Atlanta. Best playing and sounding EVH I've owned and I've had 5 or 6 over the years:

Great score! I can't imagine why anyone would let that go at a pawnshop. Awesome find for you though.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on a nice pawn shop find. I have to agree with beej as the guitar has faded to just about a perfect natural finish. Did you do anything to the headstock as far as the finish goes as I have never seen one fade that perfect lol, usually for some reason the headstock will still hold some color.Well it looks cool and most important sounds great=Score!

Thanks all! The guitar is literally how I found it aside from the cleaning/neck oiling/fretwork & set up. I had to fight back my elation when the shop owner opened up the case for me beacuse the appearence of the guitar was so striking. I mean it looked cool and has a well-played "vintage" vibe but it was also downright filthy! It appeared to me the original owner never wiped it down, cleaned it or kept it in the case. I had to replace the neck mounting screws and the original nut because they were so rusty and corroded. I used these issues to my advanage though;) Fortunately it has minimal cosmetic damage - a few dings/dents on the back and sides. The top is virtually unscathed.

I too can't believe it ended up in hock and I truly felt bad for the former owner as the guitar was definately loved. And for good reason - It sounds fantastic. Super loud and resonant unplugged and sustain for days. I've had couple of "dead" ones before. This one sings...

Everything in those pics is kind of..er..interesting. Great looking EVH man! Welcome!

Yeah, i took the pictures in my office/man cave. It looks like someone set off a bomb in a music store - drums/guitars/amps all over the place. The house was built in '78 and this room is virtually unchanged! The bricks are what i set my cabinet on to decouple it from the floor :)

What causes the fading of the EVH's (or is it just the purple ones)? Do they not have a poly finish on them? Just curious because I've never seen one in person.

I bleeb it was an issue with the pigment. Thank goodness my red one is ok - but hey I love the vibe of this one

Thanks again fellas. I called Musicman yesterday and ordered a couple of replacement bridge saddles. The bottom literally fell out of one during the clean up process. It still works but I wanted to fix it right. Customer service was excellent and they sent them out the same day. My only beef is they are $25.00 each =0!!

I also ordered an oversized brass block from KGC that should be here soon. I put big blocks in all my floyd equipped guitars and swear by them.
