Hello all...im stoked to join this forum. Although new here i am not new to owning a StingRay and have been involved in other forums since 2007.

Here is my question...I have done some research on this but obviously not asked the right people. I am looking at buying (advertised as ALL original) 1980 MusicMan StingRay, but seller says it has an 2 band epoxy pre!

My research has show me that these were stopped in 1978 and the 1979 models did not have epoxy

Seller is basically telling me that overstock epoxys were used in some 1979 AND 1980 years...but im finding that a little tough to believe.

Can anyone chime in on this and offer me some insight and or advise?

Ok..some porn. I am the orig owner of this 2001 EBMM SR5 with a matching headstock. Cheers!

Welcome to the Forum.

Black epoxy preamps continued into early 1979 but after that the epoxy was deleted. If the Bass is all original then it has to be an earlier model. What is the serial number?
