Naw don't sell yourself short. You can play anything anyone can on the 4 string with a 5 string.

You got a few more fingerings to get used to is all.

Make it more complicated than that it will be tough.

Think Honda on this matter.

imho

Well.....I tried playing some Rush that I can normally play fine on a 4 but there were the "going to the wrong string" bloopers I've encountered before.....although not as many. I should be more familiar in about...let's say....a month......by then I hope to be most comfortable.

Ok.....4 days since purchase.......I'm reeeeeeeeally likin' the 5 string thing. I have a party to play tomorrow & will bringing only the 5'er so I won't be tempted to pick up a 4.
If all goes well, look for me to be trying to off 2 Bongo 4's so I can get another 5.

Unsolicited advice:

1. Keep the four bangers. I still like them a lot. They feel like hot rods after playing fivers for a while.

2. Think Green.

Well I have 4 four bangers.......my philosophy is 2 4's & 2 5s......bring one of each to each gig.
What it comes down to is I can't afford a new Bongo 5 (none used available right now) so if I can off 2 I'll be able to get a 5 of my choice (I want an HS config) .
I may be thinking a new limited from the Dude or basscentral has a Stealth 5 HS.

Have you seen the thread about the Martini Olive Green basses?

Nothing wrong with how you're thinking, bleeb me, but these green things are going to be cool (and collectable).

If it's a Bongo 5 HS I'm down for it.........basically, any color I don't have (or won't have if/when I unload the 4's would suit me fine.....esp. if the color is either rare or a "not often ordered" color---i.e. Lava, pearl blue, etc.....which seem the be the Musician's Friend/GC ofered colors.
