No real excuse for me to pop over from the guitar side & post this.....except it's one of my favourite bands of all time and Andrew Bodnar must have been one of the earliest guys in the UK to use a MM Stingray......all the time

funny enough I happen to be a good friend of the guitarist in this band, Brinsley Schwarz, this track surely brought back a lot of memories.

Graham Parker and the Rumour (Parker, with Brinsley Schwarz and Martin Belmont on guitars, Bob Andrews on keyboards, Andrew Bodnar on bass, and Steve Goulding on drums) formed in the summer of 1975 and began doing the rounds of the British pub rock scene. Early in his career, Parker's work was often compared favorably to Joe Jackson's and Elvis Costello's. Journalists would often categorize them together, labeling them with some variation of "Angry Young Men", even long after the artists' work had diverged. Characteristically, Parker would not hesitate to criticize this habit with caustic wit.

Squeezing Out Sparks was the Rumour’s sixth album, and undoubtedly its best. Parker had just left Mercury Records and joined forces with legendary producer Jack Nitzsche. Together they made what Trouser Press called “his toughest, leanest and most lyrically sophisticated LP.”

Met Brinsley when he was working as a guitar repairman in Chandler's in Kew, London in ????95?????
GP now lives in the USA & still writes & performs....there's a YouTube vid of him doing this song 30 years on.....but on a Gibson J200.
Andrew Bodnar was a good solid bassist who held down the bottom end to perfection.......as a guitar player that's what I require from you guys who aren't clever enough to play chords!

I'll get my coat!

Brinsley still works in Chandler part time only. He briefly moved to Cornwall last summer but didn't like it so he is back in London.

they supported Lizzy a lot back in the day, great band, solid playing by Mr Bodnar, he (and the band)was a pretty class act back in the day.
