Hi everyone, I'm new to the EBMM world but I am very excited about "moving in."

I need some advice - I currently play a Lakland Skyline Duck Dunn which I really like because of the smaller J neck. Very easy to play and I have smaller hands.

All that I have read with regards to the Sterling has been very favorable but locally I don't have any to try. I do have a chance to buy this used one pictured for $750. The owner puts it at an "8/10" with a few dings here and there.

Based on these photos, is there anything different or unusual about the bass? He described the color as a metallic pewter (?) - I believe it to be a 1999 model based on it's SN.

Thanks for any info or advice!
Cliff

It's gorgeous! I have small hands and I LOVE the Sterling necks. Without knowing much about you, I think you'd find that bass comfortable. Sounds like a good price, too :D.

Is that Inca Silver? I would post the serial number on the serial number sticky thread. Dan or someone from EBMM should be able to give you some details.

Yeah, Dan is usually pretty good with a quick reply, but I suspect that everyone at EBMM is pretty busy processing orders for the 08s.

i'm sorry, but what answer do you think will you get in the ebmm forum?
its like asking in a macforum if you should switch from a normal windesktop machine to an imac...

so give it a try, and if you don't like it sell it. i'm sure you will get your $750 back.

mobis,
My initial question really was more about if there was anything "the trained eye" could tell me about what they saw from the photos - I've owned an OLP bass before but not a MM and the only thing I really know about the Sterling was that it has a friendlier neck profile for hands like mine.

I just wondered if anyone could tell me if there was something different about it, the color or the HW since it was from 1999.

Looks like a nice bass for a great price.

Hard to tell from photos if there's anything wrong with it, but if you trust the seller, it really is a good deal on a GREAT finish.

(Plus, as was mentioned, the pickguard and matching headstock cost more when new.)
