Newbie here

Bill, gosh darn it, you've just reaffirmed my faith in mankind. Well, not 'mankind', exactly, but that is one fine looking bass.

Black on black, rosewood board - if you can't get it done with that bass, then you can't get it done with ANY bass.
 
Man, where can I gets me some "swamp pop"?

Other than by going to those multi-soda dispensers and mixing them all up together?

Actually, yes! We play that song at almost every gig. Neat little tune.

Sorry, I'm late, but will a hey Bill still work? I'm trying to get moved in to school, and everyone looked weirdly at me when I brought in my gK 212 and a rack, a set of vdrums, aren't they weird. Anyways, glad to see you joined!

I know the feeling. I had a G**tar and Marshall mini-stack at my student room. A friend of mine and I often ended up playing it in the middle of the night! That's why I sometimes had complaints. Even once security knockin on my door. So hide your instrument cable when you think you'll be drunk that evening :p

+1 I had an aluminum-necked Kramer bass in my school daze. Remember those ones with the "pitch-fork" headstock? That got some comments (Q: "Do you play death-metal?" A: "No.") I had a 35w Kustom practice amp. Boy, the sound of that thing distorting, echoing off the concrete walls...bloody awful!!! :eek:

That is really cool! When my buddies and I go up to my camp for a weekend of boozin' and fishin' and burning things, we usually get lit and listen to a lot of music.

One of the Cd's that always seems to get played is a collection of zydeco and 'cajun' music, which happens to have 'paper in my shoe' on it. My good friend Dave once performed a hilarious drunken dance to that song, and nobody has ever been able to forget it! ;)

edit: Dave's dance, for the record, was fueled by his peculiar decision to take a wineskin along for a long hike earlier that day. Now, carrying a wineskin would generally be a good idea in such a situation, to prevent dehydration. However, he opted to fill his with good old Bacardi silver rum, thus forever earning him the nickname "Captain Rumsack" among our circle of friends. :)

Yeah, I'm not even sure who originally wrote and/or recoreded "Paper in my Shoe," but it's a good song for all of the dancers to do their thing.

Jo-El Sonnier, by any chance? If that's who you mean, I enjoy his music, too. I was playing a gig one night & he showed up & sat in with the band.

I also played a couple of tunes with Jimmy C. Newman & Wayne Toups once. :cool:

Man, I love Wayne Toups and Zydecajun. They are one rockin' band!

I saw them live once a long time ago and I've never forgotten what a great show they put on.

I've been pickin' for quite a few years, that's for sure! I enjoy discussion groups related to my hobbies, so it's great to sign up with a new one (for me).

(I have over 10,000 posts on another forum that I haunt. :eek: )
