Hi all,

My name is Antoine.

I have been reading the treads in this forum for the last 2 weeks. I figure I should introduce myself.

I am a newbie to the EBMM family. When I first started play (way, way back when) I saw a Music Man StringRay and thought it was the coolest bass! I could not afford it at the time and wound up with a cheapy Fender Jazz Bass copy that work well enough for me. Now, I am happy and proud to say that I have just ordered a new Bongo 4HH in Sapphire Black over the July 4th weekend!!! Of course, it will not be ready until September 2004.

I had gone to Guitar Center the prior weekend to look at the new Fender AeroDyne Jazz Bass that I had just read up on in Total Guitar (Bass Special). I have always been a Fender Jazz Bass player (real ones now :). The AeroDyne was a very sleek, classy, and comforable bass machine. With the new P/J pup combo, it had a really nice tonal range. And at a list price of $699, it was a great option (still thinking of getting one - just to have it). My wife thought it sounded sexy, hot and looked cool (now that is what a bass is meant to do!!!).

While there I started looking at other basses. Hated the Warwicks, Spectors felt wierd, and the others were so-so to ok. I finally got to a wall of Music Man basses. While looking at the StingRays, I noticed this Orangish Bongo thingy hanging there. I had also read about it in the same issue as the AeroDyne.

Yikes! What a strange beasty! You should have seen my wife's face when I came over to the amp with this foreign object. So, I plug in and start playing. WOW!!! What a great sounding BASS! My wife was blown away by the range of tones and the power behind this hot sex bass machine!

The rest my friends is history. Now all that is left is the waiting,....and waiting.....and waiting....hhmmm..boo-hoo...<sniffle> :(

Oh yes, I wish to extend my deepest thanks to the mighty, Bovinous, Lord Bongo!! I could not decided on the color of my Bongo love bass until I saw pics of his Sapphire Black Bongo. Thank you, your lordship :)

Welcome to Music Man-dom AntMan! Make sure before asking questions, you utilize the "Search" button/function at the top of the page or Bovine will get really, really mad!
Make sure to post pics of the Bongo when you get it! Happy to have you on board.

Welcome Antman! Just remember that when you get your Bongo, DON'T THROW AWAY THE SILICA PACKS!!!! As you can read here, they are extremely valuable! Just ask Spectorbass. :D

Wow. Finally, someone has recognized my contribution to humanity. I really never thought this would happen.

Hey Ant-Dude, congrats on the purchase. Glad I could be of some small help, and welcome to the forum!

Thanks to you all for the warm and info filled welcome :)

By the by, (i know use the search) what is up with the Sil packs?

I will post pics as soon as I get my Bongo - 4 inch ball bearing to the forehead punch tone - in!

I am already talking to my honey about getting another one :)

I loved that Medallion Gold fretless!!!

Speaking of Fretless, I currently have a Carlos Robelli fretless - Yeah, I know, a cheap little bass, but, it can sound pretty nice with the right EQ. Anyway, I want to order a fretless. Thought about a SR4 or Bongo. I am kind of funny about fretless, I feel it should have a more traditional look and feel to it. Can anyone tell me why EBMM does not use Ebony for the fretless necks? I mean everyone else seems to be able to. And they did make the Onyx bass with ebony, so, what gives? I know search! - I did and read all the threads back to last year and found no answer to this. Should this be a new thread, not sure how this all works yet.

Thanks :)
