Hi folks. I've been reading the forum for a couple of months now, since I ordered my JPMM 6 string w/piezo from Steve's in Montreal.

Thought I'd join in now and contribute from time to time. I've started playing (again) for about 5 years, after being on "hiatus" for many years while building a career and a family. Used to have lots of time and little money - now have a few more bucks but not enough time!

I expect my new guitar in late April or early May, and I can hardly wait. From everything I have read in the forum, I'm certain I will be blown away when I get it.

Cheers.

Welcome! I found this forum to be informative and fun as I am sure you will too. I own 2 JPMM6 myself and you will not be disappointed. The hard part is having to wait. Did you get a loaner model by chance? That would at least keep the "edge" off while you waited for yours to arrive. What color did you get? Good luck and congrats to your new MusicMan.

Welcome JBert,

Your story is very similar to mine. I've gotten back into playing guitar after being away so long. And, I also just ordered a Petrucci and am anxiously awaiting its arrival.

The people that post in these forums are so helpful and I enjoy reading what they have to say. I've learned a lot and credit them for helping me decide that Ernie Ball is the way to go.

So, I hope to see you back as a regular and when you get your new guitar. Be sure to post some pictures so everybody can ooooooh and aaaaaaaaah. I plan to!

Take care,

Welcome! Waiting, especially as the expected "delivery date" appraches is the hardest part. It took 3 months for my Axis SS with piezo to arrive. FSmith ordered a JP with piezo and his took slightly longer. As many other have said, it's worth the wait.

I actually had to send mine back in for some minor tweaking. It took less than 2 weeks (I live on the East Coast, so almost all of that time was in transit) to get it back. Since I had already "experienced" the guitar, I had no trouble at all waiting the 2nd time. :D You most likely will have no issues with your guitar, but if comforting to know, that IF you do, EB will take care of the problem quickly.

Enjoy!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Unfortunately, the store I ordered the guitar from doesn't normally stock more than one or two Petrucci models, so no loaner was available. I did get to try one for long enough to be sure of my choice, it just wasn't the specific model I wanted.

I have ordered it in Carbon Blue Pearl, with piezo but without any additional upgrades (i.e. matching headstock or inlays). My objective was to get the best guitar I could on a budget, so I was not fussy about esthetics, except for the colour that I really wanted.

In the meantime, I use my trusted old Ibanez AX120, and dream of the day I can open the case to my new guitar...

Incidentally, I requested that EBMM "seal" the neck, having read that it provides greater stability in climates with wide temperature and humidity fluctuations - and that is certainly the case where I live.

Can anyone reading this who has also had this done share any comments? In particular, I am curious to know if this sealing process eliminates the need for periodic oiling and waxing of the neck, which I believe I read about in the FAQ.

Thanks to all!

Can I ask what the average price paid has been on the JP's that were purchased in the past few months?

My local GC had one for $1800, which I thought was ridiculous. I've seen blem ones in musiciansfriend for $1300. Should I be able to get one cheaper that than at a local shop?

Thanks

Texaxmcse,
I paid $1525 from my local shop. Piezo, no inlays or matching headstock. It took almost 3 months to the day to show up.

I mentioned in a thread earlier that the GC near me had a couple of JP's in stock, Red Pearlburst, no piezo, inlays, matching headstock *or* case for $999. But they were beat beyond belief.

fred

P.S., Jbert, like others have said, it's worth the wait. Although now that I have mine I'm starting to get the itch for an Axis. The wait won't seem so bad this time though since I have something to play.

I paid $2,200 (CAN) for mine (see specs above), which converts to about $1,650 U.S. all in.

I know I could have gotten it a bit cheaper in Toronto, but I preferred to go through the local dealer in case of any problems.
