SUB 1 SSS anyone?

For those that are interested in Sub 1 mods, here's a SSS guard I built a while back for Sub 1 or Silhouette Special.

BTW - I wish you guys wouldn't have cluttered up this thread with the Sub 1 ebay auction stuff - Couldn't you have taken it somewhere else? maybe even delete the posts, that would be cool.

Thanks beej. Bob, it's really hard to say exactly how much an effect the
500K pots have on the output of the singles in this installation. Reason is, these are the first V60s I've ever played and I've got that PIO cap in there as well. But to be honest, it seems like these singles are more opened up and have more clarity and breath across the freq band. Probably more apparent in the crystal clear highs. They also seem to be more touch responsive. The pups sound huge with very articulate highs and nice tight bass. I swear I'm getting some fantastic strat sounds out of this puppy. Especially in positions 2 and 4, the quacky sounds. The V60s also have the low G pole, and it will probably take better ears than mine to discern what effect that has in comparison to other vintage stagger pups. Once I get a nice vintage set of pups for my strat I will be able to make better comparisons. (my strat is 80's E series MIJ and still has the original ceramics in it)
I'm liking this setup very much. I like the 500k pots and there is lots of adjustment on the tone pot.

If you find it too bright, you can always wire a 250k resistor in there so that it comes into play in parallel in positions 2,3,4,5. (So 125k on the singles, 250k on the HB ... assuming 2 x 500k pots.)

Neat about the Silent Circuit. Yeah, that yellow wire is in there to ground out the SC in some switch positions.

Love your new SUB! I think I would love to get another someday and put a GFS fatbody Tele neck pickup in it with a P90 in the bridge.
