Hello guys,
wanted to share my latest acquisition.

I sold a non-EBMM with a Cutlass in mind. In the meantime I also thought a bit about getting something completely different as I already have the AL, my modded SUB1 plus another non-EBMM S-style. So the three-singlecoil-ground is already covered relatively good. But there was no concrete idea.

Then incidentally I saw this vintage gold reflex for a very reasonable price and liked the idea. Some of its features always attracted me whithout ever really considering buying one: The mahogany toneblock, the chambering, the covered pickups (everyone here praises the Axis pickups but somehow they are under the radar) and the cool colour (I don´t know if I would have bought it in black or white). The purchase went very quick and smooth. The guitar is in superb condition.

The sounds are fantastic. I really like the fat but breathing Humbucker sounds with the option of turning them into parallel. The splitting options are all nice, reminds me a bit to the Morse single coil options whereas I have to say the Morse is easier to switch. On the reflex it´s a bit tricky if you want to use the parallel/series switch and go to a in-between position on the 5-way lever at the same time. On the Morse you just hit a switch and/or the 3-way lever and it always goes to where you want it.

The guitar is light, very resonant and I believe the chambering and/or the toneblock makes it very alive whereas my Morse has more of a direct punch which makes them equal but different.

Cool but underrated guitar!

The proof for its existence

Great guitar. Always disappointed they didn't do translucent tops other than the 25th. Can you imagine a Neptune blue quilt top. I think sometimes guitars get rejected due to the color selection, but i could be wrong.

I hope my thread does not become a discussion about colors but you may be right

Other than that: thanks for your nice comments. Just listen to these sweet tones out of a 25th (and thus out of a reflex ;) )

Congrats, great guitar! I had one that I sold, then traded a Silhouette Special for another one in white, hardtail and rosewood fretboard. That one is a keeper.

Congrats!
Gold tops are something i never really liked, but this looks cool.
Thanks, to be honest I didn´t care about goldtops so far.
On this one I instantly liked it and thought "ok it´s one of the classic guitar colors from the 50s - can´t be bad" and I think it makes this really cool sounding guitar look cool too, more than solid black or white would.
The more I think about and look at pics from old guitars: gold top, creme binding and black back is really nice!

Playing right now. The bridge Humbucker in parallel is such a sweet sound. Not as fat as the HB in series but with much chime.
I believe that´s the position Joe plays in the vid right above

Yes thanks. The finish is special. The kids like it, the wife doesn't. That means, it's too beautiful 😨

Yeah, saw that guitar, too. Very, very reasonable price. Congrats. If it had another color I would have pulled the trigger. I want a Reflex, too.
