Ngd: Al hh pdn

3rd fret depressed, and then open string. It says so before the pictures on the measurements:
* AL PDN, 3rd fret depressed: 2mm
* AL PDN, open: 2.5mm
* AL HH, 3rd fret depressed: 1mm
* AL HH, open: 1.5mm
* Valentine PDN, 3rd fret depressed: 1mm
* Valentine PDN, open: 1.5mm (very consistent with the AL HH)

Neck relief and other setup components are fine. If I capo her on the first fret she plays ok, this is all part of the standard evaluation I always do on guitars.

Sorry if I sound arrogant; but I've gone through this guitar in every detail imaginable and I know what's wrong with it; everything else is perfect. Sounds great, got a gorgeous ebony board, lightweight, and the stunning is stunning.

Maybe I'm missing something, but where does it say WHERE you are taking the measurements? I get it ....frets depressed and open. Where is your depth gauge?

Ok I think that's why some were confused. Measuring string height at the 12th fret is more common, and once a string is fretted the only contributors are neck relief and saddle height - so your nut comments weren't making sense. Now they do. :) Thanks.

Exactly. Seeing measurements of 1.5 to 2.5 mm had me assuming a measurement at the 12th fret.

Any measurements at the 1st fret would should be from the bottom of the string to the top of the fret (*not* from the fretboard) and those numbers are typically 0.25 - 0.75 mm (0.010" - 0.030"), best measured with feeler gauges or something like the stew mac nut slotting gauge.

I'm so stupid; completely missed that! Guess I assumed it was obvious... only to myself!
I did measure from bottom of string to top of fret.

Fretboard isn't involved in any of the measurements for guitar setup anyway. When I do my own setups I eyeball it (the only measuring tools I use are radius gauge for making nuts and setting up bridges).

Got it back today! Plays and sounds just brilliant. Loving it.

Not been able to A/B it properly against my non-PDN AL... so that's TBD. I think one of the two will have to go, given how many guitars I have around these days... :(

Alright, did a bunch of things to it and it's becoming one of my favorites :)

* Re-set the neck, so it's much more playable on the high E string now
* Changed the bridge pickup to a Bareknuckle Crawler I had laying about (my favorite pickup)
* Changed the knobs to black knurled knobs
* Changed the 5-way selector switch tip to a Tele tip

The knobs and pickup cover are black, so it gives it a different mismatched look. But I like it and the Crawler sounds great. It's still a liiiittle bright, but that's what the tone knob is for. I gain clarity, power, and thickness in the mids with this.
