In case you missed my post in another thread, I just got a new AX40. Can anyone say "purple"? Can anyone say "pink"? It's crazy cool! I got it at the local GC by trading in a hi-end Dean Deceiver FMF. 
I'll be upgrading the trem and pups and changing out the knob (never cared for those strat-style plastic knobs). Since those will all be black, I may be changing the tuners to match at some point. I already have a Graph Tech Ghost Floyd to put on it. I bought that with the intention of putting it on the Dean Deceiver, but I could never get used to that neck so I never installed the Ghost on it. I have small hands and wide/thin necks like the one on the Dean give me cramps after extended playing. I played the AX40 for more than two hours straight last night and felt great afterward. I also bought a set of GFS VEH pups for the Dean but never installed those either. Those will now be going in the Sterling.
So far I'm completely happy with the AX40. I may now look at getting an Axis someday too. Can anyone tell me what the differences may be between the AX40 and Axis where the neck is concerned? Nut width? Contour? Radius?
I'll post some new pics after the upgrades. It's going to be sweet.
