I have been wanting a Silhouette and this one popped up at a decent price so I jumped on it. Black with a rosewood fretboard. I don't know the actual date of birth but it has to be the early 90's range. It has the wax and oil neck and 5 bolt but non-locking tuners and what appears to be the older style pickup. It is very light and I think it might be poplar. It sounds amazing and the neck has some great figuring on it. All it needs is strat style knobs and a tort pickguard.

Congrats! I really dig the look of that guitar. I am partial to the knobs it has on it already and while I agree a tort pickguard would look stunning, there is something extremely slick and sleek about the black on black. I, myself, might leave that as is too. But it's of course your guitar so enjoy!

Cheers,

Tom

Congrats, Silos are great guitars. I also like the look as it is. Let us know what you think about the sound of the guitar.

Tone-wise this guitar is amazing. I cracked it open and it has the molex connector and Dimarzio pickups. They are DP10?? I forget the last digit. The pot was dated Jan of 1993.

I was going to look for a SSS pickup set to put in but I think I changed my mind. The humbucker is not at all like what is in my Axis HH. It is hard to describe but it's definitely not anywhere near as hot and the bridge split w/ middle pickup position is wicked. It was definitely voiced for vintage tone. I am curious as to what the body wood is.

The newer ones like mine are alder. I also love the Silo pups, very low output, very transparent and clear and they match well with the sc.
