Picked up a BFR Musicman Super Sport, rosewood top and all-rosewood neck. This is a bit of a weird situation. I wasn't in love with this guitar's body shape but something compelled me to try it, and it is bar none one of the best guitars i have EVER played. The neck is an absolute dream...whatever the guys at EB did, they're geniuses. The pickups are P90s but there's a 9 volt compartment in the back with a battery...active P90s exist? I've never heard of that.

I can't really find all that much info about it online, but here are the pics (more to come later):

Can anyone provide a little more info as to what i have here? I can't find this model with the BFR logo online.

Congratulations on a fantastic first post and welcome to the forum!

The battery is for the Music Man Silent Circuit, which is a little gadget in the control cavity that gets rid of the noise and hum that non-humbucking pickups are prone to. It works a treat!

You can post your serial number in the serial number thread. They'll normally give you the date the guitar left the factory but if you are specific they can give you more info too.

Nice guitars these, I'm selling one like it (but with added trem & piezo) in the For Sale thread.

(Shameless plug! ;))

For a while they were the same price as a normal Super Sport. Yours was one of the last ones we made and was part of a limited run where we offered the all rosewood neck on any instrument. Each instrument we sold in that run, including yours, was subject to a small upcharge.
