I bought one of these late last summer but returned it (long story) and have been agonizing over it since. Thankfully Guitar Center had another. Hard guitar to photograph - need daylight

Congrats Mike. Just saw and played one for the first time today like an hour ago. The finish is really something, haven't seen a picture that really captures it like IRL. Still can't really get along with the JP neck, but it sure sounded great!

Good luck trying to capture that awesome color in a pic!!! I passed up on that to get my roasted maple JP6, but all guys should have at least 2 BALLS so. . . . . . ;) I'd love to get that one somewhere down the road. Congrats, that IS a beauty!!!!!!

coupled with the alder body with mahogany tone block - not to mention the chambering, and pickups....choice of woods in the neck and fingerboard....ALL on top of the 5 way switch with all the tonal capabilities - this is easily the best sounding, most organic guitar I've ever played in my life. I get the best sounds and tones out of this guitar.....so much in fact that I sold my original JP7 because it just doesn't compare!

I know that standard BFR's have all the same tonal possibilities, but put into a 5 way switch instead of the push pull pot makes it so much easier to tap into the sounds on the fly. Other's said it in this thread but, based on those few facts about the guitar I just listed, this is easily the BEST sounding and playing guitar there is...no holds barred!

Congrats Mike and it must feel great having no regrets lol. By the way I just noticed you play a pedal steel =very cool.

Thanks straycat. I have and sorta play a Lap steel, but not pedal steel. I owned one many years ago and tried, but never got good at it and there were very limited educational resources then. I have had several very cool lap steels over the years. The one I have now is dead mint and old and I really don't play it often anymore. FWIW - its the same model that Steve Howe used on Close To The Edge and the Tales recordings

Happy NGD and sweet guitar. I want one of these so bad, just haven't been lucky enough for everything to line up just yet.

Love that colour too.

Beauty! How do you like the chambered body, do you notice any difference compared to the normal BFR Petruccis? I never played a JPX yet

I haven't played a BRF JP, I do have a standard JP6 and did comparisons on that. The JPX is definitely sweeter/smoother sounding and the notes just bloom brilliantly.
