No pictures yet, but they all look the same anyway, lol.

I've been through a bunch of axes and I was in the market again and I started just thinking about all the features I like and need in a guitar. I joined a new band where we are playing a loit of Dio era Sabbath,Children of the Sea, Sign of the Southern Cross etc. so a Piezo would just be great for that live. So Iw anted that. Iw anted a trem but didn't want fine tuners because its just a hassle especially playing live. But I did wnat locking tuners.

I love the look of ebony fretboards plus I have become really picky when it comes to the type and positioning of pickup selectors. The fender style blade is perfect for me. I added all of it up and it came down to the JPX, which Guitar Center by me had just gotten in stock. I conidered it an act of God so I left work early, played it at Guitar Center for about half an hour. I have been playing 9 gauge strings for a long time so the 10's took a little but of getting used to. But the guitar sounded and played great and I just love the look of the thing so I snapped it up.

I played it all night. The painted neck is still slick and super comfortable. The trem works great and stays in tune and the whole gutiar is just beautifully made. I look at it and I appreciate every aspect of it. I fdfind the pickups hard to describe, someitmes I would say they are high out put yet they are so clear that sclar runs almost sound single coil like. They are very cool. The louder you turn it up the better they sound. Which to me is a great sign.

Anyway those are my first impressions. Cany ayone else share their experiences with this great guitar?

Thanks,

Mike

You won't regret getting one. I found one fresh out of the box at a GC back in May and immediately snapped it up. It just amazed me. Hands down the best guitar I've ever played, I had to have it. I find it is much more "alive" in my hands than the standard JP model...

So I have now had it for a week. I played it at rehearsal last night and it sounded great. I mean obviously the guitar is beautiful so, to me, the appearance is off the chart. The next thing is feel. The neck is super comfortable and it just plays great. I understand some people don't like the 5 way and when its in the neck position you do feel it, but I think people get pretty tied in to what they are used to and have trouble adapting. One night of rehearsal and the 5 way feels fine.

The last and arguably most imprtant component is the sound. I thought at low voulmes that some of my gguitars that have higher output pickups obviously sounded a little hotter, but we were playing pretty loud at rehearsal. I'm in a Dio era Sabbath tribute band and I had my DSL 50 cranked to about 8 and the leads were just so hot and sustaining it was incredible. Not to mention that for clean sounds I had the piezo running to a roland combo so for intros like Children of the Sea and Sign of the Southern Cross, I just flicked a switch and we were good to go! It was great night with a great guitar. Thanks to EBMM!

thank God you're rockin' the Sabbath tunes with the JPX, rather than an SG with upside down crosses  Any clips?

Mike,

The JPX is a great guitar, and I agree the sustain was incredible when I put one through the paces.

Thanks for the call earlier, January isn't too far away!

You're the man. Thanks.

So what happened here was I bought the JPX on a whim and I hadn't been on this board in a while and wasn't aware of the whole roasted maple neck package etc., so then I thought how cool it would be to have this sick guitar with that new configuration so Pete here was able to hook me up with one he has coming in January. Extravagant yes, but I have few months to get the funds togehter and explain this to the wife!

I wondered about doing that with the JPX but because they all look the same it sounded weird. I'm going to take some and do it anyway. And obviously when the other one comes in I'll be all over that.

The JP50 is a fantastic guitar for the price. I grabbed it for some down-tuned stuff ala new DT, Disturbed, etc. When I got it, the wasn't very good and the neck had a few relief issues, but I took to a professional and got it worked out. I had them set it up for C Standard tuning and I've been very happy with it since. Even though the specs are the same or very close to a regular JP, it feels different, but it also feels really good and natural.

Cool, I wanted to install a trem stop in a JP6 so the bar would be dive only. This way I could go to drop D easily. I really couldn't see myself drilling into my JPX so I thought I could pick up a JP50 and it would be good for that. Maybe mess with the pickups too.

Nazgul, seriously look into the Tremol-No. Here, this is a cheesy video but it shows off the product: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiZnipHc1ec]YouTube - Tremol-No Demonstration Video[/ame]

Thanks, I watched that. That would be perfect.

How bad is the installation with that? If anyone has ecperience installing the is in a JP6 I would love to know any tips and tricks and which one to order.

What I have in one of my other guitars is this device. It did involve drilling two holes but its a pretty simple device.
