I did some trading with a good buddy over the weekend. He's more of a humbucker guy and I was looking for something else, so I swapped my Y2D for his Luke. The White Pearl is a really neat color under the light; it's full of multi-colored shimmery sparkles but it's difficult to get an accurate photo representation.

Most importantly...it plays and sounds like a friggin' dream. I sold my other 2nd gen Luke to a forum member several years ago and have occasionally missed it, so it's nice to have another one that plays & sounds so good!!

I'm going to do the John Suhr resistor+capacitor mod on this one to get the "quack" in the 2nd position (bridge+middle).

Pics!

This is the closest that I could get to accurately depicting the sparkles:

And just to complete the trifecta, here's my old Luke that I sold to a fellow forum member a while back. I think it's in Europe now?

Nice color! You don't see many used white ones out there! I know what you mean, I sold all of my Luke 2's 3-4 years ago and missed them so much that I had to get another one recently.

Beautiful guitar, I know it's lazy of me to ask instead of searching through the forum but what is the John Suhr mod you mentioned? I would like some quack on position 2 of my own Luke II. Cheers.

It's something that Suhr did on the Pensa-Suhr Mark Knopfler guitar that he made back in the late 80's, since MK liked to use that position a lot in his playing. It's just a simple capacitor & resistor that drops some of the bass/volume on the humbucker in position 2 only so that it blends better with the middle pickup.

This is another good thread on it. Kimono posted a copy of the image from the original post, plus Beej gave some additional wiring info:

Thanks guys! I'm enjoying the heck out of this thing. I think my LIII's getting jealous.

Did the Suhr mod just a minute ago and position 2 quacks just like a Strat now. I'll be playing the Lay Down Sally riff the rest of the night....:D

Very nice! Congrats!

I'm getting a bit of GAS for a Luke 2 now. For some strange reason I've not bonded quite as much with my LIII as I did with my old Luke 1.. but I prefer the newer L2/L3 trem systems and the locking tuners over the Floyd Rose these days.

That white is a killer color btw!
