Have had my eyes open for a CLEAN example of the first run of the Darklord - and Tollie "enabled" me by pointing one out in the GC used inventory list so jumped on it.

It's definitely clean:

Decent striping on the body and BFR badge!

Steve's siggy on the back:

But the striping on the neck just floors me - so wide and even the entire length of the roasted neck!

In case anybody didn't know... :)

I'm always shopping for First 50 Morses - including finder's fee for tips that result in bagging more of these elusive beasts! ;)

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I was more than happy to help you find it. I'll PM you my address for that finder's fee. :D haha -just kidding.

I'm pretty sure all the Dark Lords have flamed necks and tops, but your neck is stunning. I ordered a replacement cover for mine from A.J. so that the signature doesn't wear off. I was going to frame it and hang it next to the DL, but I still haven't.

I definitely got you down for a few rounds of your favorite frosty beverage when (not if!) we cross paths. :)

Rather than a replacement control panel - I use these deals called "Guitar Scratch Pads" on most of my axes. Costs about $20 and is a stick-on felt pad, but it doesn't adhere to the finish AT ALL and is very easy to peel off and re-stick too.

Hey - that gives me an idea - want a finder's fee? :) I'll send you a brand new "Scratch Pad" - what do you say? PM me your address if interested.

Kevin

No, thank you, I was totally kidding about a finder's fee. I'm just happy to help a brother out. These first run Dark Lords will pop up less frequently as time marches on.

When I bought my Dark Lord, my wife came with me to Guitar Center to pick it up. She said that she has a new appreciation for guitar values now. I used to fib and say that guitars cost "around a thousand dollars".

Enjoy that manly neck! You'll need to post a family photo soon...

NICE! Crazy beautiful neck and sweet flame top.
I think maybe Steve Morse may need to hide his #1 from you at this point, lol.

…"NGD, I just bought Steve's #1" :)

Outstanding, Kevin. Congratulations. Very, very nice Axe. Really love the DL´s but my mind conncts it more to Bonamassa than to Morse, but of course it´s basically a Y2D

Big Morse-hype here lately and you stand right in the center of it!

I dislike the reverse headstock (it's not ugly, but it looks "wrong" to me), but other than that, the guitar is simply fabulous, very very classy.

The reverse head stock is awesome but we all like different things. Congrats nice guitar and very clean from the first run, so need to get one back:)

at first i also didn't like them, but with the time i got more and more used to it and now i would want to have another EBMM with reverse head. they look cool!

Kevin:
how do you like the fatter neck shape?

Reverse headstock looks "different" to me - can't say I don't like it, it's just part of what defines this guitar.

The thicker neck is really nice! I used to play a lot of Les Pauls and always leaned towards the thicker 58-style necks then - so this is nice! :)

Sweet man, I have one too and I absolutely love it, especially the fat manly neck carve! I too got a replacement back plate for mine, didn't cost too much and my signed back plate is in a frame :)

Congrats, I'm late to see you scored one. Awesome! I also picked mine up from my old GC stock, a few months back. Great guitars!
