Just got this in! Porn first, review later! Enjoy!
Then of course, the shots I’ve pretty much been dreaming of taking since I placed the order!
The FAMILY SHOTS
Yeah they’re a bit smudged, but I actually play the .... out of these things!
Alright so for a quick overview, the guitar arrived with a few issues setup wise that really you shouldn’t expect on an instrument of this caliber and price. Will not be going further into this as of now since I’ve yet to hear back from my dealer and EBMM.
My tech managed to get it playing really nicely and similarly to my other JP’s action and playability wise.
I wasn’t expecting the BFR to come out like this, especially since I received my 6 string first. The 6 string sounds very well balanced, clear, and bright for being a solid rosewood neck. The BFR however does have the warmth you’d expect from sticking a Rosewood Neck on a guitar, it’s not overbearing but definitely more apparent. Playing on cleans and leads is very, veryyyy satisfying might I add the guitar screams if you want it to and it’s very easy to get a variety of tones out of it.
The Rosewood Neck is also very nice, it might look a bit dry in some of the photos but that’s just because the back of the neck is satinized, give it a few weeks of playing and it’ll darken right up. Feels smooth like an unfinished maple neck, but more porous. Very similar to Wenge necks.
And the top is pretty baller, I like Ernie Ball’s Flames better than their Quilts so I chose this one bearing that in mind. I think it looks stunning and it has a very nice variation and depth to it. During the ordering process, it was a toss up between this model and the Koa BFR, very glad I chose this vs the Koa simply because it still retains the clarity you’d want without getting so warm and honky in the midrange from having an all mahogany guitar.
Thanks for checking it out!
