Hello,

new to the forum, but I thought I'd register to find out the DOB for my newly aquainted Axis hardtail (did that in the appropriate thread).

Yesterday I traded my AVRI'62 strat for a new red Axis hardtail. Yes, it is in fact new, it has been hanging in a very local musicstore for more than 10 years, but most people around here play gibbies and strats. What else is new... :)

This is a picture I made with flash last night. The color obviously is deeper than the picture shows, but weather permitting I'll take some pictures in daylight soon.

The guitar plays like a dream and is very light. In fact it is lighter than a friend's hardtail Axis.
I only had to adjust intonation on 2 or 3 strings. Neck relief and action were spot on already.
I had to clean it up though...so many years in the shop made it dusty :)

It will accompany my Gibson SG standard and my Fender Baja telecaster.

Yeah, this friend of mine told me about it. I payed a little extra with the trade, but still got a good bargain on it.

I love my Baja tele and my SG, but I could never really bond with the strat. It played well, but the sound was meh. My tele serves my single coil needs well (although said friend now introduced me to the Silhouette...:) ).

Nice guitar and I love the hard tail. I've only seen 1 or 2 others.

Did you happen to post on one of the Strat forums asking about a trade? I remember answering a post where someone was trading a higher end Strat for an Axis and advising to go for it........

Had I known it was a hard tail, I might have tried to get in on the deal myself.. :)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments so far.

@Jack FFR1846: no, I am a regular on the TDPRI forum though (my nick there is jvanoort) and did post there about trading my strat for a avri '52 tele, but when I actually played one I really liked my Baja better. So I decided to go for a slightly more modern sound and look.

A friend of mine is a Music man fanboy and made me consider the Axis.
I found a Ferrari red Axis Sport (not Supersport) with mm90's in a shop nearby. I liked it very much, but then this one presented itself...'nough said :)

I like how it is totally different from my tele, yet also comparable in a way: simple though most effective tools.
The Axis feels like en extension to my body...

Hi, no, it's a F50, so you're close :).
I got the amp also in a trade about a year ago...a Gretsch electromatic 5120 for a Mesa Boogie F50, purses closed.
I love that amp, it has the best chimey fendery cleans and distortion to die for.

Great combination with the Axis btw!

Ah the same as mine !!! I was thrown by the scale of the picture and thought that it was smaller than the F50.

OMG you will love that Axis through the F50 - which imo will become a "classic" in it's own right.
