NGD- NOS BFR Morse

I just picked up a Beautiful Morse BFR HH, and I’m in love with the looks and playability, but man the pickups are weak and bright. I was so hoping they would be similar to the Axis pickups, which are some of my favorite. Any ideas?
 
Strange I do not find the pups as you described, while I did think they were Axis pups they sound good to me but I am a hack player

I don't know what is the story behind, but why they put this transparent pick guard on this one? Such a nice top!
 
The Y2D (celebrating 20 years since Steve's original sig model with MM) had one as well.

The story is that he's particular about how he anchors the pinky on his picking hand. The original Y2D prototype didn't have a pickguard, and Steve felt his hand was too close to the strings. So they added a clear pickguard to add some additional thickness and be closer to his original #1 Morse. And they used it with the other Morse BFR models as well.
