So my Trans Purple Axis Tribute arrived on Thursday, and I finally got the chance to play with it and snap some pics. My first impression when I opened the case was that this was an unbelievable instrument, it has an amazing top and it has just unbelievable build quality (just like my Y2D!). However, when I first plugged it in I thought the pickups sounded really thin and trebly. I couldn't believe it given how much people have lauded the Axis pickups on the forum. But, I got a chance today to restring it with 10's and now it sounds unbelievable! I can't believe the transformation. Long story short, I love this guitar, possibly more than I love my Y2D. If any of you are on the fence with regards to the Axis Tribute, I highly recommend you take the plunge!

Great score...I am happy for you....She's a beauty......Quick question.? Did you have to adjust your trem..or truss rod...when you changed to 10's...I have been considering the change......Thanks

Thanks, TSHOW! As for when I went to 10's, I kind of cheated a bit. When I decided to go to 10's I opened up the backplate to adjust the trem (of course) and saw there were only two springs there. So I added in a third spring and backed off the screws a bit, but I didn't back them off so much that the trem is floating. So essentially I created a stoptail for myself (since I don't like floating trems anyway). The pressure now is not so great that I can't whammy, but it's also not so low that I can whammy with ease (which is perfect for me). If you want to set it up floating, or so that you can whammy with ease, you will probably have to either (if there are only two springs) screw the screws all the way in (I got to 1/2 inch and it still wasn't how I wanted it, so I added the third spring), or you'll have to add the third spring and back the screws off tremendously. Like I said, the way I have mine set up is perfect for me, and it only took about 10 minutes of messing with the bridge. To get it floating or to the way its setup out of the box you'll have to put more time in.

As for messing with the truss rod, I'm not sure if you'll have to. After I got my bridge all set up with 10's, I checked the neck and the intonation and both were fine. I also checked the neck for a bow yesterday (~24 hours after I set it up) and it was still fine.

Anyhow, hope this helps and my post wasn't super confusing.

Also I cleaned and polished both of my EBMM's yesterday and took some pics, which are below. View attachment 18556 View attachment 18557 View attachment 18558 View attachment 18559
