Yeah,I love that green. But with this wood pattern iwas thinking of going solid, ala Joe Walsh's lime Axis. Trans Amber is kind of like a tobacco burst strat, or a heritage burst LP. I think for traditionalists that's fine, but I'm all about wow factors on the finish side. That being said, still mulling things over... Digging the guitar, that's for sure.

I didn't expect you to get much support for a refinish here...but it is your guitar. Do what makes you happy. I recently bought my own amber Axis with natural headstock...the possibilities are endless.

I would love to see a Seafoam green Axis. I also love the idea of silver to black burst sparkle.

Not sure how much a re-finish is going to cost, but you may actually spend money and make things worse........obsiously that top isn't the most amazing, out there crazy top, but, it is what it is...........I reccomend either sell it and get one in a color you like, or keep it the way it is.

I went into it expecting to refinish, but since it's looking to be my number one stage guitar I might just let it be until I wear everything down and then re-finish it. . .

I didn't expect much support for a refin, but it makes for a good discussion.

Was just putting it through the paces, very responsive guitar, can't wait to air it out this weekend.

I know where you are coming from about the T-Gold finish, it is like a love hate relationship. Honestly it is a beautiful finish, but it is so common that it is played out.You sound like you are gigging pretty steady, so I would say just leave it and play the snot out of it.. On the other hand if you have the scratch and want to do something unique then go for it. I would not refinish it the color of another Axis but do something that no one has seen before.

i would leave it as it is. it´s not one of the "perfect" quilts, but i love the look of it and of course amber is a classic color on the axis as well.
if you want a purple or green one, watch out for one of those and then try to trade the amber axis for it.

Leave it as is - if you're going to refinish sell it and get the colour you want -I LOVE this quilt is so subtle.... I'd even consider coming out of retirement to get buy it - I think it's a great bit of wood.... as spud says classic.

Well, if you want it you'll have your chance. Just Buzz me or the East Brunswick GC to pick it up. It is a great guitar, but I'm turning it back in toward a purple Tribute. Those pics to come upon arrival.
