Just got this a few weeks ago and got around to recording a clip of it like I usually do with my NGDs. This guitar has the best figuring I’ve seen so far from this Rosewood Run, almost looks like Cocobolo at first glance but it’s just a gorgeous cut of Rosewood! Less words, more pictures! Enjoy!

This is one of my favorite instruments, and it’s very easy to love all of them but this one is simply just eye candy. From the aforementioned neck, and the Mystic Dream Finish being as excellent as it is, it really lends itself to being stared at! I’ve come to the decision that the standard is by far the coolest JP Style in my opinion. It is SO comfortable that playing my BFR’s and Anniversary models seems like something I would only do in the studio while recording. Doesn’t mean they’re not as good, but these are just too comfy!

Tone wise, this thing is bright and snappy in the best possible way. Not in the way a maple neck’d guitar is bright or snappy but a less abrasive brightness, it is brighter than the Koa and my other JP6 White Pearl with Rosewood. I want to say this is due to wood density, but I wouldn’t accurately know. I’m actually very comfortable with the pickups, just need to raise the neck pickup a tad. Sounds cool but is slightly weaker in volume from the Crunchlab because it’s lower than the bridge.

I highly recommend tracking one of these down if you can, it’s honestly completely worth it and the necks feel incredible. I’m actually quite excited at how much this and my others inspire me to write some music, I’ll hopefully share some of those tracks once I get done writing and recording them soon!

Thanks for checking it out!

fabulous guitars , can't not decide which one should be no1 :))
love your playing ....every time :)))

can you give more details about the JP6 standard being more comfortable than BFR?
I only have the jp6 /7 and a stelring jp100d which has a similar shape with the BFR and find that the arm scoop on the JP is not so comfortable as the rounded smoother arm rest area on the sterling
also I like more the shape of the Luke - arm area - compared to the standard JP scoop, though I would have though that the JP6 scoop would be the best

are there any other differences ? I am very curios how the neck feels on JP standard maple or rosewood neck compared to the painted BFRs and JP 10, 11, 13
I was planning to get a JP 13 but the painted neck its a major deal breaker for me

I just got (2 weeks ago) my JP 7 stealth and while the neck has the satin finish which is great is not even close as smooth as the JP 6 unfinished neck
PS: looks like you already installed a "tremolo block" - "green version" :))

thanks

Very cool collection. Do you prefer the rosewood to the roasted maple? And, what do you like about the JP's over the other EBMM guitars? (Personally, the JPs just don't have one of the main features that draws me to EBMM. The 1.625" nuts are awesome for these small hands.)

I apologize to Kenji20022 for this reply, speaking from my own perspective/experience:
I always felt the same as you about the neck and thought how would have been like if JPs neck had 41mm at nut
until I got this year the JP70 and recently the JP7
now the 6 string neck feels ridiculous and my hands like they were not mine but of a giant =)))) and I am not kidding at all
the reference point is crucial in getting used to things :)

Thanks so much man! It is very tough to decide which one is really fit for #1, but I have to say my JPX7 is still my favorite Tone Wise. The Roasted and this Mystic Dream are close seconds though I have to say.

And as far as the comfort note, the scoop is really what makes it so much more comfortable to me. Also the size factor as well as the fact that basswood not only sounds awesome, but is still much lighter than a lot of other tonewoods. It's totally a preference thing for sure, but based on which guitars I spend the most time with I'd have to say the Standards are still very hard to beat IMO. Also the Standards don't have painted necks which is always nice if possible.

As far as differences, I know the neck profile is uniform between the JP6/7, BFR6/7, and JPX6/7. So I am definitely a little more partial to those models. They're asymetrical and the fact that the bass end has a little more meat to grip on is something I’ve gotten very used to. Everything after those has a much thinner neck and more uniform profile which is still wonderful but I guess I just prefer the original profile!

There’s nothing wrong with the neck paint either, it’s still very smooth and fine to play on. They use a special type of poly that feels really good to play on, it shouldn’t be a deal breaker until you get to actually play one. I like the natural necks as well, but I wouldn’t take any issue with playing on a painted neck as well.

And yes! I block my trems for recording, just less of a hassle and easier to deal with between takes and such ;)

Holy hell. Great collection!!! Enjoy

Thanks broski!

Amazing man.

Thanks :)

That's like JP heaven!

Oh yes it is, it’s hard to pick a specific one to jam on haha.

Hard to say, idk if it’s apparent but each guitar has completely different tone woods sans this one and the White Pearl. I try to get JP’s that are drastically different from one another so each one has a different core sound I can utilize :D As far as what makes JP’s my favorite, the ergonomics of the original and the neck profile are just stellar. Thin without being extremely thin. I still very much love the Axis and Silhouette but I haven’t found one that I really want to get. I may have to beg EBMM to make a Seafoam Green color an option on the Silhouette, I’d place an order for one of those in a heartbeat!

I’m also not too picky on things like neck width and measurements like that, the neck is a bit narrower than other instruments but it’s not something I would say I like or dislike. Neck thickness is probably the only thing I really take into question when looking at gear!

No need to apologize! Haha, yeah man jumping from a 7 to a 6 is always a little daunting but very easy to do after a little time! I still very much play my 7 string a lot, but going back to a 6 does make you feel like a giant haha.

That mystic dream/rosewood is my favorite... if only it was JP7! *sigh* Maybe I need to just admit that I actually like some 6-string guitars :)

Dude... Are you kidding me? You... I... there are no words to describe the awesomeness of your collection!

Thanks man! I think you and Adam have all but convinced me to eventually score a Majesty. It's hard to improve on these as is, but the Mystic/Rosewood is winning my heart over lately :) I may have to snag a Black Majesty 7 sometime in the future :D

Wow, you certainly have some rosewood goodness. Beautiful collection and excellent playing, as always.

Thanks for the kind words Tollie :) much appreciated!

Heaven indeed! You've got a great JP collection there, I'm slightly jealous... And great playing too!

Thanks a ton tlasol! much appreciated :)
