Ordered this puppy back on 2.5.2010. Finally in the house... my coveted white Silo 30!

Will review after I get it set up to my specs and all that good stuff. Fit and finish is amazing right out of the box. the fretboard and the frets are gorgeous! I had three or 4 salespeople at GC wander by and go... "Wow!! A White Silhouette!" ;) One guy was like... "I love how it's like, a gleaming white. There's that white reflex in the back but that's like an egg-white, this one gives off a glow."

Thanks to BP, Pat Park, and everyone at EBMM and Praxis for making this guitar a reality!

Gonna go play now, will come back with a full review in a day or so.

Awesome! I've been wanting a white guitar lately for some reason. I was really disappointed when I found out the white silo 30s couldn't have a maple fretboard. :(

You could get a white one and a black one and swap necks... ;)

That is sweet... congrats.

Out of all plain colours I've always preferred white.

Cheers

Thanks guys!!

I spent about 2 hours playing it last night... really digging it so far. I have yet to set the action and trem up to how I like it though.

I'm loving the trem action on this... very smooth and stable. The bar is a bit shorter than you'd find on something like a Strat, but I like that because it fits in my hand better. I love the pop-in arm, as well. I don't care for screw-ins. I stretched the strings out a little bit and lubed up the nut and it stayed in tune VERY well after that. It took a dive bomb or four before I needed to re-tune, and even then it was only out a little bit... not enough to stop a song mid-gig. I suspect that the trem will stay in tune even better when the strings are fully broken in and the trem springs get worked more.

I think somewhere down the line I may change the bridge pickup to something that suits me a little better. With overdrive it sounds really good, nice and ballsy. With the clean channel I find myself wishing it had a little more treble definition and a little less mids. That's just my personal preference, though. The singles are very nice as well. I may change them to something a little hotter or gutsier sounding eventually, like a Texas Special or a Duncan SSL5 or something like that. Overall the stock pickups are very nice and complement the guitar well. When I open up the pickguard I'll have to take some readings off them just to see what they're rated at.

Other than a pickup swap (which I do to all my guitars at some point) and some straplocks this guitars gonna stay the way it is. I love the look of it.

I'm also liking the fact that it's basswood. It's a little smoother sounding than my alder Silhouette Special. It weighs about as much as the SS does though... I expected it to be a tad lighter. It feels REALLY solid.

The fretboard is a gorgeous cut of wood and the frets are GREAT - they measure .106w x .050h, which is for all intents and purposes my preferred size. The stainless frets I picked out for my SS are .95w x .052h. The fret ends are dressed VERY well, nice and clean, with the edges at that perfect angle that doesn't get in the way of your hand comfort but still wide enough to not let the string fall off during vibratos. That's an important detail that I see missed on a lot of instruments under $750. It's great to see that attention to detail here.

Excellent instrument, I'm really glad I waited for this one. I'll have to take some glam shots of it later. :D

the trem will go out of tune if you dive bomb and go wild, but for standard vibrato, shimmer it works great with the locking tuners.

Your thoughts on the bridge pickup are pretty much spot on with what i hear too. If time permits for kicks I may drop in an AX40 bridge pickup just to see. . .

the fretwork on these came out just the way i wanted. It's actually a harder denser material than what you usually find in overseas made guitars. They are tall and sustain for days!

Glad you liked it. I actually inspected and set that one up. When I saw the order for GC El Toro I had a feeling it was you.

Yeah, it took some pretty extreme moves to put the guitar out of tune with the trem. For shimmering the chords and subtle vibrato and Beck-type stuff it's just great.

The frets do seem very high-quality. I'm not surprised that they're harder and denser than average - they feel like it. They have that slick polished feel and bending is very easy on them. Sometime's I'll work on a guitar for a friend or acquaintance and I'll go over the frets with a Dremel and some jewler's rouge to get it feeling that way, and then when they get the guitar back they can't believe how nice it feels. This one was like that right out of the box!

Thanks for handling that one personally, haha. :D Extra Pat Park mojo! I remember seeing the picture of the White Silo 30 at NAMM, and after remembering how good the Silo 20's, JP50's and AX40s came out, I pretty much made my mind up on the spot. I think I made a post on here in the following day that was like, "I'm ordering a white Silo 30 and that's all there is to it." I went and ordered one the next day.

Thanks again! :D

I asked that same question when I placed my order. Pat said they'd be shipping to stores in May. I got mine, so I guess they're shipping out now. :)

I'm gonna be doing solid homework/finals till the 21st so I'm not gonna get a chance to play it a whole lot. :( But I have it now, that's the important thing.

Thanks for setting it in motion, man. How ya doing?

The SUB-1 bridge pickup would be perfect. It shimmers and sparkles.

I've got a few different candidates... Motor City Afwayu, Duncan JB, Duncan Custom 8, Dimarzio Mo Joe among them.
