I picked up one of these up last week. I stopped by Sweetwater on my way up to MI for work to play an Axis with a Floyd. Just couldn't go back to the locking trem. Watching the NAMM post that week and seen this just posted so ordered it. I had a Cutluss with the white ceramic pickups back in the day, Been stuck on Suhr for a while. This thing is light and plays like butter. I did setup the tremolo to float this evening. Excellent guitar. If you watch the video he talks about the mix between the two Humbuckers. There is definitely some mojo in that middle switch setting.

Congrats on another fine axe!!! I played these at NAMM and definitely enjoyed the voicing of the humbuckers.

How are they voiced? MM is failing hard in promoting this guitar. They should have lent it to a few of the social media guys and had them put it through the paces. We haven't even heard this guitar doing overdriven lead stuff. Is MM interested in actually selling this guitar because Cory's name isn't big enough to just buy the guitar based on that alone.

Been amazed at this Stingray II build and neck decided to pick-up another EBMM (Axis SS). Two different guitars. Planning to set the bridge to float on it as well.

I seen a few different post on the voicing of the pickups. A few saying it needs coil split, or a video of review saying they want a single coil version. The more I play it, it feels like the best single coil I own. Has a feel to a PRS DGT (core) pickup coil tapped or I guess on my Strat 2/4 position.

I bought the Sweetwater exclusive in Firemist Silver, which arrived today. It's beautifully made, but I'm disappointed in a couple ways:

The setup wasn't very good. The action was high, and the intonation was waaay off. For the price, I'd expect more. I spent a lot of time setting it up, and will fine tune it tomorrow.

More problematic is the G string resonates behind the nut when played open. Either the headstock should have been tilted back or a string tree used. Googling it, it seems a common problem with EBMM guitars. A few wraps on the string would likely fix it, but the guitar has locking tuners, so that'd defeat the purpose. Part of me wants to return it, but I suspect it's a problem with the design, so I'll probably find a way to deaden it.

It's my third EBMM, though the only one that's disappointed me so far. For the price, I expect better.

I have that same G string issue on multiple guitars. I’ve gotten used to sticking a little rubber grommet between the strings as a quick fix.

Texas Finally!
Interesting, mine came from Sweetwater was set up perfectly and no issues of any kind, I have already replaced the pickguard, put new strings on and the set up is still spot on.

When are we going to see it with the new pickguard?

Having some time playing my SRII Deluxe tonight, I love this guitar. As always with EBMM, I love the craftsmanship - and the satin neck feels incredible! It might be the best feeling neck on any guitar I own (in terms of finish, though not profile) and I think I prefer it to the raw EBMM necks; it actually feels raw.

One thing that really stood out is the middle position on the pickups. I never play the middle position on a dual humbucker guitar, tending to use the neck pickup mostly - but the middle position on this guitar sounds like the second position on a Strat (neck & middle). It makes sense Cory would like this sound, being a Strat player by default, but I wonder if the pickups were tweaked to sound like this or it's just coincidental. And the bridge pickup sounds great as well; oddly, the neck pickup is my least favorite, while it's my go-to on other guitars.

I'm not very familiar with Cory's playing, so he wasn't my inspiration, but the looks alone sold me on this guitar - and overall I'm liking it "neck & neck" (do pun intended) as much as my favorite guitar, a Hamer Talladega Pro (yeah, a very different guitar).
