Got something fun in the mail. Took 10 days to get here even though the seller shipped it the same day (or day after?) I paid. I blame the holidays!
In November, I was drinking some sherry and eating cherry ice scream, directly influenced by EBMM releasing the JP Baritone 6-string in a "Cream Cherry" finish. This led to dangerous Reverb activities.
Here's the box:
Yeeted the box out of the way. One of the latches on this case is slightly broken.
What did I get? No, not a Fender as perhaps suggested by the cardboard box.
It's a Cherry Sugar EBMM JP12!
It was only in November that I bought its 7-string brother, the JP12-7. That one also had a broken latch! I had been enjoying my JP12-7 so much that I started submitting offers on JP12s and JP13s (6-string versions) and seeing what would happen.
This one is also in mint condition. I cleaned it and installed new strap pegs on them (ones that fit my strap locks). Setup is fantastic, but I am planning on keeping this in C standard whenever I find a set of coated strings I like. Then I can keep learning Untethered Angel. I liked the D'addario EXL145s (12-54) when I used uncoated strings but I don't think D'addario/EB/Elixir make an equivalent set. I'll probably just use 11-56 since D'addario has XS sets of those.
The pictures below show all of my Music Men. I used to be a "never signature" guy and now I own five. Not shown is the JEM7V that I also have. This is a Sweet Fruity Forest Fire with the Cherry Sugar, Enchanted Forest, and Ember Glow finishes.
Anyway, I'm starting to run out of space for all of the hard cases I own. I only justified these two JP12s with the substantial raise I got at my new job. In 2023, I was at the point where I had bought all of the used Ibanez Prestiges I wanted and haven't bought one since. I think I am now at that point with EBMM. I will likely be focusing on refretting my used Prestiges with stainless steel when the equipment arrives (and practicing on cheaper necks, of course).
