Issue resolved - My Baaaad - no more NGD woes - Luke III HSS with idiot owner!!

Just picked up an import from USA - brand new Luke III HSS black with full rosewood neck but no sound - opened control cavity and theres a black wire from jack socket which is not connected to anything - must have come loose in transit ..

can anyone post a few pictures of their cavity so i can see where to reconnect please ?

luke cavity 1.jpg luke cavity 2.jpg

There are three black wires from jack socket - 1 runs directly into body - another is attached to pin2 on the top row of circuit board - next to white wire at pin 1 . and theres the 3rd which is only connected to the jack

Hard to tell from the pictures, but it looks like the volume or the tone pot wire.

Looks like you might need a schematic.

Good luck, Glenn |B)

Hi Phil,

Welcome! We are sorry that you are having issues with your new guitar. I have replied to the email you sent so that a diagram can be emailed, I do need the serial number.

I reviewed the diagram ( many thanks ) - however two extra black wires attached to jack

1. from body cavity direct to jack ( has its own wiring hole ) ... earth for trem or similar ??

2. the loose wire - soldered to jack but no obvious termination - the wire end is professionally trimmed n tinned

thread update - firstly response from EB guys has been superlative - full pdf schematic sent within minutes ..
my wiring seems to be slightly different however ??

I opened trem cavity n traced a black lead from claw to jack socket - it would seem to be an earth lead ..
on every other trem bridge guitar i have this is the norm - should this be case with this Luke ? ( as its not mentioned in the PDF schematic Ive been sent by EB tech support ? )

I then tried taking the unattached lead from jack to earthing point on the rear cavity cover along with the bare wire earth lead - but no joy

any ideas guys - or photo of your Luke III HSS wiring cavity particularly wiring around jack ..

sorry for appearing so needy - but its a freakin awesome player out of the box - and so frustrating i cant get any sound for what im hoping is a 2 second soldering task ...

In a nutshell - I didnt realise that the battery was permanently engaged irrespective of boost feature ...

With all the comms around the move from EMG to passive Transitions - I ASSumed that the preamp / boost was bypassed until engaged .

many thanks to all who replied - forum guys n EB tech

and apologies for wasting everyones time ....
