I just happened to stumble across a VH1 Classics presentation of a Collective Soul concert from this year (2006) from Atlanta with the Atlanta Youth Orchestra. Very high energy and well played, and Will Turpin was playing a Bongo 5HS, is what looked like medallion gold for the entire show, and it was very prominent in the mix. Anyone looking for a sample of what a Bongo sounds like in a rock setting should check this out . . .
Ironically, my attempt to record it flubbed - the DVR was on the wrong input and I got 90 minutes of crap instead . . . . although searches indicate that this performance is available on DVD . . . .
