Beautiful story, thanks for sharing
I also loved this guitar when it appeared online. good to know that it´s in good hands
love blueburst (obviously) - looks superb on this axe and the neck is killer!

I'm glad you enjoyed the story. That guitar will be well loved for a long time. He cares for his guitars carefully (he's soon to be 17, so not a young child) and I expect he will keep it in top shape. That made it easier to spring for such a gift than if he was rough on his "things." :)

Such a cool story. Your little dude has taste! I bet he will be an addict to EBMM as he gets older haha.

Seriously, good parenting, i'm impressed.

Thanks! He does have taste... There are several signs to suggest that, once he's out on his own, he could grow to be that young man who has three decent shirts in his closet, and 27 guitars on the wall! :D

I was reading waiting to hear a problem! hahaahahah Great story...and that guitar is very special...I own the company but am still a fan of great guitars.

BP, I should have also said thank you to you for building such special guitars!

If the day ever comes that you're wondering what color and woods you should use in a special run, I stand ready to assist - all you have to do is ask! :D

What a fantastic story! I hope I can do that for my kids one day.

As for the guitar, that's my single favourite colour in the MM lineup. Like a faded pair of jeans. Perfect in every way.

:) I hope you can, too, beej!

And it is a fantastic color. Would make a great PDN offering one day, don't you think?

This is a great story! It is awesome that you share your passion for guitars with your son.

Btw, I bought the one-off Axis SS Semi-Hollow in Trans Teal Burst from that same 2016 Summer NAMM. Very special instruments.

Thanks! I confess I looked more than once at what is now your Axis. Nice flamed top on it.

Those semi-hollows are so versatile. It took me a while to really bond with mine, but they are sweet guitars.

I am also struggling to bond with it. My 25th anniversary feels like it disappears when I play it. The axis semi-hollow is fighting me. I have kept it in its case since buying it last month and am considering selling it. The top and roasted flame maple neck look amazing, but I just don't play it. How did you finally bond with yours?

I guess I just kept playing it enough. It's not my most comfortable guitar, for sure, but it has a range of tones I don't get from the others, and I'm finally used to the feel of it. Mine also has a piezo, so I use it most of the time if I'm recording an "acoustic" part. And the Axis humbuckers can definitely go mild-to-wild.

Keep it out where you'll play it for a while before you give up on it. If you're not gigging with it, you're not going to lose anything by keeping it a while longer.
