If I could come up with magic words to ezxplain something I cannot control (the cost of usa made goods in uk) I would be doing something other than amkng guitars. The exchange rate really makes it pretty wierd. Our stuff should be more affordable...can you imagine if we had a strong dollar? Trying to fix international business is akn to getting your steel guitarist to play in tune

Europeans are buying anything decent with four wheels and they dont care what the price is. I have seen it both ways when the dollar was strong.

Having an American girlfriend, and visiting the USA 3 or 4 times a year, I get to see the real cost of things and totally realise that we are getting totally ripped off in the UK! Whilst our salaries are a little more in the UK, things like cars and houses and rent are so much cheaper in the USA. Don't get me on the subject of petrol (gas)! In West London, a tiny one room apartment with a seperate Bathroom and kitchen is about $250,000 and we pay $6 for a gallon of gas! I think a few more years in this sorry country and I will be heading Stateside!

I wish I made $40,000 a year!!!! I'd have a hundred guitars. I had a British girlfriend not too long ago and it was a real hoot (although I couldn't afford any guitars during that period. no, thanks to her).

BUT, you're talking about London. I live in NYC and that same apartment would be $400,000 if you're lucky. You can't compare London to Ohio and expect the same for the rest of America.

the problem is that doing that would have the opposite effect, it would cause the price to go up along with everything else.
Plus all the shops would completely sell out of streamers, bunting, party hats, champagne....etc etc......

My family would starve on $40,000 a year. (Well, not really but life would change for all of us.) Plus, I'd assume most of us who have enough expendable income to buy several EBMMs make considerably more than the national average so it's not a valid point IMO.
And we suffer the same way whenever we want to buy a Diezel or a Cornford for example.
