"(Reginald Kenneth Dwight) to wed partner in Dec"
Thu Nov 24, 1:44 PM ET LONDON (Reuters)
----------------------------------------------------------------
~
"(After being asked about his sexuality in the 1970s) "I think people should be free to engage in any sexual practices they choose; they should draw the line at goats, though.""

""Nowadays, record companies want the quick buck from the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears, S Club Seven, Steps. They've always been around, I'm not knocking the music perhaps, but it's like packets of cereal. There are too many of them, too many of them are just mediocre. And I think it damages real people's chance, real talent, of getting airplay. It's just fodder.""

"Anyone who lip-synchs in public on stage when you pay £75 to see them should be shot. That's me off her Christmas card list. But do I give a toss? No. (about Madonna)"

""I had a hell of a time last year [2004] and this is the end of it. I haven't spoken to Madonna since. She's been in Kabbalah meetings ever since. I don't think I'll ever be forgiven for that one. Then I had the George Michael thing and the Posh Spice thing. I will keep my mouth shut now.""

I quite like Elton John.

In fact, I'm now going to listen to Tumbleweed Connection.
+1...as long as it's classic Elton. Dee Murray was a highly underrated bass player, IMHO.

I also liked the 'Rock of the Westies' line-up...Roger Pope and Kenny Passarelli (drums and bass) were a tight team!

+1x10

30 yrs ago, I carried my Tumbleweed Connection and Madman Across The Water LPs from shop to shop as test records to sample and purchase hi-fi gear

10 yrs ago (June 1995) MM hero Tony Levin was featured on the cover of BassPlayer magazine
- on the page (p57) immediately following the feature article (p46) about Tony (including his final advice to "less-experienced bassists")
Bob Birch, bassist with "The Elton John Band" is pictured advertising a brand of amp/speakers, and clearly sporting a handsome MM SR5 in black & maple
