I really think it grows on you... first time I ever saw a Bongo... I though, jeez,
that thing kinda looks like a toilet seat (seriously!)
But now, somehow I'm in love with it! got one on order, just cant wait, LOL

It was the same for the Stingray, I didnt care too much for the look, when I first
saw them... Now, not only do I think it's the best looking, classiest bass out
there, I think it is a real masterpiece of art. Remember when you first saw the
Mona Lisa? what's the big deal about it (right?) it's a masterpiece, period!

Just listen to all of us, on here! were all totally addicted to Musicman basses,
some guys have more than a dozen of 'em. Rationally speaking, what do you
need 12 different basses for? (same but different color, LOL).
But like many things (ex. women), it has nothing to do with making sense, we fall in love,
there's no way explaining it

I wanted a Bongo from the time I started playing a bass. I liked the looks of them. There weren't any to be had around here. I fell in love with the SR5.

Seems like long ago even though I haven't had the Bongo very long.

I have never heard one negative comment about the looks of the Bongo yet from anyone that has seen me playing it.

They're probably just too scared to say anything bad about it to your face.

It's human nature that most of us are reisistant to change. I predict that 10 years from now, the Bongo will seem as commonplace as the P or the J. No one will think anything of it.

That is until they hear it.

Then. after they change their underwear, they'll have nothing but praise for the most incredible sounding bass that they have ever had the pleasure to experience.

I bought a Bongo after I decided that I didn't give a rat's a$$ about what anybody else thought about the looks of my bass. I wanted to put forth the best possible sound no matter what and that's what the Bongo will deliver.

Touche. And speaking of job requirements, I almost stole an ad off the bulletin board at 'The Only Guitar Shop' [Clifton Pk, NY] cuz it was possibly the ultimate Bass Player Joke. It said, in short: "Gigging Classic Rock Band seeks bass player. No experience required." A few of the phone number tags had been taken.

Funny thing, the only other ad was right next to it: "New to area, experienced bassist seeks any type of band work. Reliable and sober, just want to get playing again."

"Let not your left hand know what your right hand is doing."
[Obviously, Jesus was a big Wooten fan.]

I like this one...the job requirements look like a classified ad for band members....

Hmmm...that's one of the (few) good things that happens to you as you get older...you stop giving a rip what other people think of you. I never gave that sort of stuff all that much consideration anyway, but now that I'm in my mid-40s I REALLY don't give a flying flattened squirrel carcass.

I wonder if the average age of Bongo players is greater than that of those who play more conventionally-shaped basses?

There can't be an average figured out for Bongo players. We just don't average.
