Ok, I'm new here. . . :D

I've been listening to alot of players lately, and I've been a Spector player for the past several years - but I'm really liking what I've been hearing - and it's been EB MM's.

So - know that I love the StingRay sound - how similar is the sound b/t the StingRay and the Sterling?

Yup - searching through the forums and doing as much reading as I can - just wanted to do a 'first post' kinda thing.

Thanks!

Welcome Wes!

When you've read all of the posts here with all of the opinions, then go out and play them for yourself.

I've never owned a Sterling but I'm sure that Phatty or one of the other forum members that own both a Sterling and a 'Ray will chime in soon.

Welcome Wes.

I have not been here that long myself. Hope you find what you're searching for. All here seem to be diehard Musicman musicians. I was a Fender man for years but i really like the Stingray Tone and playability. Very comfortable basses.

Believe it when they say the Musicman bass will get your stage presence noticed.....:D They can't help but ask where that wonderful tone is coming from.

Welcome Wes,
I am also trying to choose between those two. Right now I am really liking the single H ray, but I want to try a few more, and break down and pull a Bongo off the wall to see what all the fuss is about :) ...

Wes,

Good to see another IL guy around here as midwesterners are somewhat a minority. To me the Ray is deeper and has more growl than the Sterling. If you like that big booty Spector low end type you probably should look into a Bongo too if you haven't already. To me with the Bongo there is no "fuss", just "fun"
