Does that guitar have final finish on? it looks like it's just been sanded. I guess what I am asking is if that 20th silo is Natural in color, Can I order one with Natural color???

that's a unfinished prototype you're seeing, the only colour I believe is the caramel burst

That pic is the coolest proto pic I have ever seen. Look who's in the background.

Yeah...almost looks like Dudley's taking a wiz.

No disrespect intended.

(Like he reads these boards any more anyways ;) )

I'm not sure thoes were the questions BP was waiting for. The little circles are dirt on my cheap little digital camera lens.

?'s regarding the 20th anniv SiLO

1. How about the back wood? I understand that it is alder with a mahogany block. Can we whip anyone who is not happy with that decision?

2. Is the veneer between the woods functional or purely fashion?

3. How do you bend the quilt top to get on the arm rest?

4. Can you speak to the decision to do a radiused body versus the bevel cuts? (there is a lot in this question I didn't ask)

5. Will the upgrade tops be noted on the neck plates? What will the neck plates say?

6. Did you know I am really excited about this guitar? Sure I have one on order but I think I need 2 of them. Out of the 12 or more EBMM's that I will have after these last guitars are delivered. I expect this to be my favorite guitar EVER! (no pressure)

7. Did any one tell Dudley thanks for the pup rings? I think that is a fantastic way to mount the pups. And the covers, that's just class.

8. I know you hate this question. Is there an Estimated completion date yet for the first ones?

9. Is there anything I can do to help? You know like pull? I already don't call every day. If you think it would help I would be happy to slap Keith.

10. With all the new models introduced, where was this one on the fun meter? Sometimes I worry that with every thing happening that this "important" milestone for the EBMM company might not get the attention it deserves. I hope you sell a million of these and if not I will be proud to own one (or more) of the few hundred thousand you make.

11. Would you comment on knucklehead (spelled NOrm) second guessing?

I think I saw once that this can be done by vacuum. Put the glue on, put the top in place, then put it in a tough plastic bag. Then suck all the air out and it will bend to fit and be firmly clamped in place.

That works, if the bag is tough enough.

This is how you do it if you dont have a vac

The back wood was a big deal...we tried all of the usual suspects..alder basswood poplar ash and Mahoghany...we were all hoping that the mahog would be great but at the Biff Babies test run I hated it!
The alder was close but not dialed in. We all were looking for a specific tone...punchy bright and balanced. Drewbixedcubed was the lead guy on this but the whole engineering and design staff was involved heavily to answer your later queston of if this not getting enough attention. What we did is inlay a chunk of mahog starting at the neck joint that went to the bridge. The "inlay" actutually looks a lot like an absolute vodka bottle. In house we call it absolute tone.

THe veneer is cosmetic

the top is done by vacuum much better and more consistant than Petes photo.

Please slap keith.

the Silhouette radius' just didnt work as well as what we ended up with.

the upgrade top will get the custom made neck plate

NoRM you have been fine lately...dont get too comfortable

The Pickup rings work really great! Thank Drew also and John Watkins

hey Guys. newbie has a question (sorry). I know the pics in this thread are of the PROTOYPE. The pic below was of a Silhouette Anni at NAMM. Is the NAMM version the way the will look coming out of production or did they change again? I have on on order, just curious.

The protoype is pre-NAMM.
Your link shows how the guitar will be.
I may guess there could be minor tweaks as they go into production, but BP is a picky guy and wants it done correctly.
There were at least 3 protos that I am aware of, and your link shows the winner!
