I can see why you need to cut models and why you have come out with the cutlass and stingray guitars. There is a huge market for these models.

But for some models there is only 1 or 2 colours left. And no pickguard or fretboard options. I really feel ebmm is growing from a "exclusive" guitar company to a pretty basic company.... sure ebmm has some different models than many other manufacturers out there but in my opinion, the prices we need to pay for a (new) ebmm here in europe, are no longer justified, as there are no more options to choose from. If you are offering only black, white and sunbrst guitars, this should be reflected in the pricing. And shorter delivery time, wich doesnt seem to be the case. Sorry bp, just my oppinion on the matter, for now its only 2nd hand ebmm's for me.

Looking at the nay-sayer's web page or profile on whatever media or post history can certainly shed some light. There are a LOT of players who have convinced themselves that anything made after 1954 or 1952 or run for some time and discontinued because of lack of market and brought back by popular demand and used market values is crap. These guys would not be convinced regardless of what was improved. The guitar is more comfortable to play? "It's not from the 50's, so it's crap". It has far better quality and well thought out features like actually being able to reach beyond the 19th fret. "They didn't need more than 21 frets in the 50's, so we don't need them now".

These people are not interested in innovation and truly would never change with clearly better products. And some of them will bash anything newer because of their set-in-their-ways beliefs.

As an engineer, I analyze (overanalyze) everything. I look at history of a product and why things were done. Early bolt on neck guitars weren't built to be the be-all, do-all wonder of the world. They were built to be able to facilitate cheaper manufacturing and repair. Why isn't there a properly angled headstock on some of these guitars? Cost money. Throw a string tree in there and blast it out. The 4 on 2 headstock with proper angle, straight string to the tuner is a properly designed guitar. I couldn't even give proper credit to all of the MM innovations of design that are included in every guitar today. I have gone through the silent circuit patent and understand how it works. For a player, what is important is that it works.....and when a battery runs out, it stops working but the output doesn't go away, like most other designs.

What is my point? The innovation and "just right" new designs coming out of MM stand on their own. They just do. They don't stand on a crutch of "hey, this is historic so we'll never change it". Improvements come and help us as players.

Sterling, you have a wonderful family, exceptional colleagues and employees at EB, you work with incredible artists, and you make guitars and basses that are highly innovative, respected by people whose opinions matter, and among the worlds very finest. You do what you love and you do it it with passion, character, and integrity. Who cares what some people say? You are blessed.

First, thank you for taking a chance putting the Big Al out there - even though you had to retire the model it truly is a fantastic instrument, and I'm sure like me the ones fortunate enough to be playing one feel the same.

Secondly, both a P and P/J from EBMM - yeehaaa!!! :D :D
Thanks for everything you do, and all the best for the new models!

What do most people fear the most? Change. While other companies haven't had a successful new design in over 60 years, EBMM has released fresh new designs and options. Not afraid to try different things and being forward thinking. I admire and respect that. The fear of change and jealousy are what keeps this world from making sweeping positive strides.

EBMM, please keep your head up and your eyes and ideas toward the future.

This sort of surprises me. I guess I didn't see any of these criticisms. I pretty much always see 100% positive comments (not just here) about EBMM. *shrugs* From the multitude of JP offerings, to the AXIS neck, which people like me can't praise enough. Whatever you're doing, BP, you're doing it right. Keep it up!

someboy told me one day : the world is made of two categories of people. leaders and followers.

on social medias, forums ALL haters are followers. People who did not invente, innovate, and are not even able to make their own job correctly.

I had many critics about my playing...from people who COULD NOT play. people who really play don't spend their time to critic.

I had some good time on the youtube channel of the compagny last night (new vids are awesome ) . very curious about the saint vincent, the valentine is just the next on my wishlist.

these are new shapes, like the bongo when it came out, like the armada, like Parker did with their fly ( OK I never found one that was set correclty... ^^)

stupidity and jaleousy are the price to pay when you're a leader. but history does NOT reminds haters.

BP, you have far too many reasons to be proud of what you guys do to even give a twinkle of a thought to the negatively minded people of this business. By the way, in a non-related matter, did my package reach you?!
