I made a trip to the closest GC yesterday. I played the Sterling Bass for the first time, and I played the Bongo for the first time also. All I can say is that now I get it. Other than the standard GC 3/8" action, these basses simply blew me away. I love my SR4, but the Sterling was a natural with HS pup config. man...gotta get one. The Bongo single H sounded amazing, and felt fantastic...but it'll take a few more aplications before I can get used to the look. I can only imagine what they would play like with the propper setup. The only thing I was let down by was the Sterling had black coated DR's on it....I guess I wanted to hear it with the Slinkys. All of the guitars were set up perfectly, but every bass had at least 1/4" - 3/8" string height at the neck joint...still these EBMMs sounded like 600lb bumblebees with perfect pitch. I can see I will need to be adding at least a couple more to my stable. Thank you BP and Dargie, and all the rest of you fine folks at SLO.

It is indeed. That's what Tony's plugged into for his stage rig. You can see an Ampeg 2x12 on a stand behind him.

BTW, if you're interested, his bass is plugged first into a Radial Tonebone (for switching between his electric, upright and Stick, not for any tone shaping), a volume pedal and some effects...an Analogman Bi-Comprossor (using only the Orange Squeezer side), an Analogman custom Big Muff Pi (which you can't even buy), and a Boss digital delay. A Radial JDI is used to get his signal to the house.

When I first seen a bongo it was in the Muscians Friend catalog. I thought wow I want one of those. Went to my local shop ask about bongos since they sold EBMM and was told they won't sell here so we don't stock them.
I got a bongo. It took me a bit to fall in love with it because the SR5 felt so good I was expecting the exact same thing from the bongo.
Worked on playing just the Bongo and behold everyone in the band said that is the best sounding bass ever.
My respect for that bongo just keeps climbing.
Only one person out of all I have played the bongo around called it ugly. I insisted on playing it and when I tried to play my SR5 instead was told by that person to go get the Bongo.
The looks are one of a kind and the sound is one of a kind. It has to be a bongo.
