Howdy-

A few weeks ago, on a whim, I bought a purple OLP MM1 at GC for $100. Hands down, it's the best cheapo guitar I've ever played. The bridge PU is out of this world! I really haven't been able to stop playing it and I have some guitars that are 15X there price that don't sound nearly as good as my OLP.

My $100 cheapo guitar has led me to order a real music man.

I just placed an order for my new EBMM. Its going to be an Axis in Tangerine Pearl with a matching headstock, floyd rose, and have a maple neck and board. I realize its luck of the draw, but I kept asking my dealer if there was any way I could get a highly figured maple neck/ fingerboard, and he said that he would at least ask. I've seen these amazing necks on old Charvel's and I'd love to have something like that on my Axis.

Its going to be a 5 month wait and while I'd love for the wait to be shorter, I guess there isn't anything I can do about it. My local dealer, Bellers/ DuBaldo Music was very helpful as well.

I just thought I'd share.

Peace~

I ordered the guitar from Nick today. There shop is about 20 minutes away and they've always been nice to me. It seems like I'm always in their shop, having them rewire one of my guitars. I'm a bit of a tone snob and I change PU's a lot. I hate soldering, so Nick and Pete always help me out. They've always been helpful and reasonably priced. I ordered the guitar from them versus a store like GC as its nice to help the independent guys out instead of the big box stores.

Nice one - the waiting is a pain - I know all about it!!

Would love to see a pic of your OLP. My mate bought one back in 2005/2006 and it's a great guitar for the bucks - the stock pickups are great too. Just did a little bit of setting up and it plays just fine.

Make it a BFR and it will come with their best choice of wood and a mahogany tone block. I ordered mine from Pete in April & received an email today from Pete stating that it would be shipping in 2-3 weeks.Total time will be slightly over 3 months. It will be worth the wait.:D:D:D:D:D

I took these pics on the night I got the guitar. Since then, I've changed the Neck PU to a Seymour Duncan 59' and I'm waiting on some locking tuners I've ordered.

I thought I'd resurrect my old thread instead of starting a new one-

I've had my guitar for a few days now and have been playing it quite a lot. It seems to have great build quality and that figured neck that I asked for was delivered upon. The color is very cool too. Its called Candy Tangerine and almost looks like one of those color shifting paints. Depending on how the light hits it, it can go from Orange-Burnt/ Metallic Orange- Red- Neon Pink- Gold. Together with the maple fingerboard and chrome hardware it looks sexy!

I've made some small mods to the guitar, by installing Neon Orange Dimarzio Straplocks/ Strap and Star Inlay stickers (I put these on most of my guitars). Besides that, I can't complain. Both pu's have a nice tonal range and when used with the volume knob, I can get lots of sounds. The neck might be nicer feeling than some of my beloved Charvels.
On my OLP, I really didn't like the neck PU, but on my Axis, it seems to be great!
