Look at this - this guy has put an EBMM logo on an OLP!!

Ebay Auction of fake EVH from OLP

I'm not one to endorse the actions of large companies that harass Ebay sellers because they use the word "like Fenson" or "same as Gibder" in their auctions, but this has got to be illegal. How can someone just slap an EBMM logo on any ol' piece of Chinese wood they find lying about and then sell it on Ebay? He's not really misrepresenting it, IF you read the print, but geeze...

Not good - I'm surprised more of these aren't turning up. Original EVHs are not exactly easy to pick up, but I feel sorry for the poor sap who thinks that is anything like the real thing- it's not worth $10 in my opinion

It does kind of look good, if nothing else. Where would you even get the logo to do that, have it made?

With computers and printers being the way they are now a days.....that is easy to do. I think I need to get the "team" together and have a talk with him....ask OC, I'll show up in the new warwagon and have a nice "chat" with this individual. ;)

Geez.....takes a mighty big set to do something like that. Quite frankly, I wouldn't take that as a gift.

I wonder if EB will do or have done anything about this type of thing.
We know F-er and G-sin would and do.
It's misleading to the public.
What is that guitar is total S--t! Then the purchaser would forever have the wrong idea about the real thing.

Reason #1 why I refuse to buy anything music-related off of ebay. Sure, on occasion someone picks up a good deal (i.e Rush's Blue Dawn MMJP). However, more often then not people are just trying to unload their junk. And they really are not very clever about it...either that or maybe I'm just too much of a skeptical tightwad. This is simply unexcusable.

I'll buy small stuff, but never a guitar. Before I hand over the cash, I want to feel that baby in my hands.
I'd consider buying from you forumites though. ;)

WHY DO MUSICIANS STEAL FROM OTHERS...WHY DO THEY STEAL FROM THE PEOPLE THAT MAKE TOOLS FOR ARTISTS?

This guy is basically counterfitting our good name. Maybe he discloses that it is an olp in small print, but what about the guys who sells it next? To work so hard to try to make great stuff at reasonable prices and have a guy steal and mispresent you products is just wrong. This fella is getting fired on from my newest pack of rapid intellectual property lawyers. He is also counterfitting and profiting on Eddie Van Halen's name. Hopefully
they will find this and fire on him too.

I disagree, if it wasn't for Ebay, I would still only have the one EBMM (the SUB1) instead of 4 EBmm's, a USA Wolfie, a USA Washburn 7, and a USA Wayne Custom 7...I would never have been able to see let alone get these guitars here in Canada...so I thank Ebay...its up to the buyer...Buyer Beware...every single purchase I made on Ebay, and this includes an 8 track, an amp, and tons of pedals, have all been quality purchases...ask the questions and only buy from reputable sellers. Actually if you read the description he's pretty honest about it, so anyone who knows EBMM knows this isn't an EBMM!

E-bay is a double edged sword. For you Raz my man, it brought you to the promise land! Awesome!

For others, it brought them a bad deal. Let's look at it this way.

Dude is selling an OLP that is being passed off as a EVH EBMM (Based on the stickers on the headstock). Sorta owns up to it, but, really puts in the used auto sales pitch.....

Now, you and I and the many here on the forum knows that it is just simply a polished turd. You polish all day, but it still is a turd.

Here comes someone who has never played an EBMM. See the others (real EBMMs) listed quite a bit more and jumps on the "deal" on the 'bay. He now has a starter guitar (I had one, so I do know what I am talking about), but thinks it's the real deal. He plays it for 3 seconds and his hands burst into flames!.....I mean, it's garbage and dude sees and hears it. Do you think he will ever buy a EBMM? I doubt it.

I think Big Poppa should get his lawyers (or me for a small fee...lol) to put a Big Stoppa on it.

I understand what you are saying, I know many people who cannot play a real deal EBMM who might not know any better and end up with that piece of garbage. These cases come up quite a bit, but this one looks like he is really trying to pass it off as a EVH model guitar. He uses just enough wording to disclose it isn't, but not enough to say it ain't.

I have see great deals on e-bay and agree with you on that point. Even I have bought some stuff off the 'bay without a hitch. But, it is evil out there sometimes.

No I hear ya and I agree, however generalizing about Ebay being craptastic, just isn't so...I think he should be tarred, feathered then tarred again for the hell of it!
