I disagree, if it wasn't for Ebay, I would still only have the one EBMM (the SUB1) instead of 4 EBmm's, a USA Wolfie, a USA Washburn 7, and a USA Wayne Custom 7...I would never have been able to see let alone get these guitars here in Canada...so I thank Ebay...its up to the buyer...Buyer Beware...every single purchase I made on Ebay, and this includes an 8 track, an amp, and tons of pedals, have all been quality purchases...ask the questions and only buy from reputable sellers. Actually if you read the description he's pretty honest about it, so anyone who knows EBMM knows this isn't an EBMM!

That's cool. That is you're opinion, and you are certainly entitled to it. However, that doesn't change my assesment. :)

I picked up my BD Silo off of eBay after a little wheeling and dealing with beej. :D Although I don't know that I would have jumped in so eagerly had it not been about 40 minutes from me and I could pick it up in person before paying.

It's definitely a buyer beware situation. But in this situtation I ended up with a sweet, sweet guitar for a great price.

However, more often then not people are just trying to unload their junk.

That's just not true. You may choose to avoid Ebay but you're wrong to make such a statement. Ebay is actually a great place to get gear. I've gotten tons of excellent deals.

Just make sure you read someone's feedback history first and contact them before you bid.

Look at this - this guy has put an EBMM logo on an OLP!!

I like/hate how he calls it an Ernie Ball Custom and has the following in his description to catch the search trollers...

Shipping is a flat $35.00 Kramer Axis Charvel Jackson Ibanez Fender Gibson Hamer EVH
That kind of blatant mis-advertising just pisses me off.

Well he did say it was an OLP and stated"I personaly made this guitar and its one of my best so far." Anyone with half a clue and $2000.00 in the market would know this isnt a real EVH.

I've bought 12+ guitars from eBay w/o issues. You just need to be smart about the item & the seller.

I've seen way more mis-represented Wolfgangs than EBMMs.

I'll happy kick some ass north of the 49th parallel if required ... ;)

As for Raz's comment ...

Totally agree. If it wasn't for eBay I wouldn't have my Morse, Luke, my old sil specials, or have gotten into EBMM at all.

The good thing about eBay is that when you buy used at market value, you can always sell it without losing much/anything. I find it's usually low-risk to try new gear out that way (when you can't find a store to stock it locally).

...so, this isn't a real EVH? :D :p

Y'all, eBay has been my music store; if it were not for eBay, then you could take EVERYTHING that I have and make it go away. I have had no issue with any of the items that I've bought to this day.

It's all about buyer beware, know your seller, and never deal with anyone -10 feedbacks (at least that's what I do!), and if it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is.

Still bummed that that EVH isn't real... ;)

Update: The guy has updated the description in his auction, he goes into some of the flack he's received so far about the auction. He specifically mentions a 'dork' lawyer who thinks he controls the world ;)

Yah but, you think he'd wake up and smell the coffee. The title still says Ernie Ball Custom, when it's really should say OLP Custom. Some people just don't get it.

I wouldn't even bother writing to this jerk in the first place - an email or two to Ebay, they get you to fill out a form, and you're part of Ebay's VeRO (Verified Rights Owner) program. Then all you have to do is send them an auction number with an electronic form they supply you and BAM! they'll pull any auction without even giving the seller a warning... I do it all the time to auctions that copy text from my website verbatim, and Glen at Jemsite has auctions pulled frequently that use his pictures without permission. Surely EBMM could use the same program to defend their good name...

Actually, that's a legit OLP image from the OLP website. It's licensed I think because of the 4+2 headstock configuration.

Nope...the dog scares me. :D

Nah, 10 is a gudeline that I go by to gauge whether the person actually has a clue of what's going on, and what have you. I will say, however, that I have made judgment on people under 10 FB's, and have done a transaction or two with people in that arena.

It's really just a matter of personal judgment, all in all...

Feedback doesn't always matter to me. I've seen scam emails where the alleged account had great feedback but someone had clearly scammed the account details.

Likewise, I've bought from zero feedback sellers (that's how I got Tommy's old Morse 6 bolt ...).

I like to email/chat with the seller before I buy anything, regardless of feedback. Then you can get a sense of what they're all about.
