NPD! Covered Bare Knuckle for my JP6

Just got this installed recently. Looks absolutely gorgeos imo. It's a Ceramic Nailbomb, in case anyone was wondering. There are a bunch of reflections that look exactly like smudges, and scratches unfortunately, but these are just to give you an idea.

I also had my luthier sand down my neck just a tad- I was never a fan of finished necks, and it's PERFECT now. Smooth as butter.

hey i'm dying to know this as well...i've posted about replacing my crunchlab on my bfr with BKP rebel yell possibly to brighten things up a tad. did the pickup drop in nicely? or did you have to do any mods to the cavity due to height of new pickup vs the old one?

how would you describe the nailbomb..in terms of what music style it is suited for?

anxiously awaiting your feedback as I am really close to ordering some BKP's but not sure which I will want. Also, love the idea about sanding down the neck...i'm not a big fan of finished necks either, when my hands are damp/clammy they stick to the neck.

I have a slightly older model, so I was swapping out the D-Sonic. It just didn't sound like I wanted it to. I was an idiot, and forgot to get DiMarzio style triangle tabs, but my guy just trimmed the tabs and it dropped right in. I put a bit of foam under the screws for a bit more height. So when you order, just tell them that you want tri-tabs, and you won't have to mod the cavity or do any routing at all!

I LOVE the Nailbomb. It wasn't quite what I had thought it was going to sound like, but I am 100% satisfied with it. It's the Ceramic magnet version, and, as with all BKPs, it's SUPER clear, the note definition is unbelievable. It's bright but not over bright, and the output gives it a very classic tone. It's super tight and sounds great in dropped tunings as well, especially when I put my tubescreamer in front of the amp. I highly reccommend it!

I was also considering the RY as well- you just don't want to get a pickup that will overwhelm you with mids and lows, but that also depends on your guitar wood, as well as the amp/cab setup you have. I play through a Mesa Rectifier 4x12, so I have no problem with lows hahaha. I love it to death!

I thought the D-Sonic was super muddy- the low mid spike combinded with medium output really didn't do it for me. It's miles better now!

I'm not too fond of the D-Sonic either, that's why I'm researching the BKP. How is the Nailbomb for solos?
I'm going for a Lukather/vintage Van halen type tone, but i also need a great jazz clean, so it's hard to get the right combo. I been checking various BKP combinations, like the Aftermath in the bridge and the Rebel Yell in the neck, but i'm not totally convince of this combo yet.

I think the Nailbomb would be awesome for your playing style, but you also want to consider body woods, and the guitar that you're playing from. What guitar are you playing? Thanks a lot for the input. I'm looking for something to replace the D-sonic/ custom pups on my 2007 JP6. Actually, I haven't been able to find anything that's really a lot better yet. i got a set of Crunch Lab/Liquid Fire that I might throw on there first.
So you think the Nailbomb will be it? ceramic version?

I was on the BK site last week looking to see if they had any stacked humbuckers but they do not make them at the present which bummed me out, but they have some great sounding pups. The CN looks great in your ax and I am sure you are more than satisfied with it.Their pups really standout on sound bites as it is usually hard to get a fair assessment of tone between models as a lot of great pup companies will remind you ,but the BK site is the best I heard. I just had a friend buy a set of the RY and from what I heard I really like them.

Looks amazing. would look great on that JP6 of yours too. there is a review of the Aftermath with the tiger finish in Guitarist mag (Joe Bonamassa on the cover page130).

I love the Ceramic Nailbomb in the bridge, and I highly recommend it, and as for the neck pickup, i'd probably go for the Black Dog neck- it'll give you glassy, smooth and warm cleans, while not slacking on the output. If you are looking for even more output than that, an Aftermath or Coldsweat neck would also do you well! Those are very popular neck pickups at the moment.

Are the tiger ones the Creme/Black uncovered? Those look sweet.
